What's with the Google Penalty?

The thing is, one of my moneysites got a penalty for "Unnatural inbound links" some time ago. I've sent reconsideration request three times but kept getting rejected in the end. I somewhat gave up and removed the site from GWT entirely. Though I didn't ditch the blog as it has a good amount of returning visitors, and it's ranked #1 for some high searches keywords on Bing and Yahoo and still making decent money.

One day, I did a test, I put the moneysite offline and let Google deindex them, then I put it back online on a new server and reindex them. The funny thing is, they're all indexed now while previously the homepage is deindexed due to the penalty.

Then I started to build new links slowly myself, so far I've built nine aged web2.0, 34 new web2.0, and six days ago I added 29 links of my own PBN aiming for two high competition keywords. Then I figured out two days ago one of the keywords back to #1 on Google lol and started to bank hard again.



Has anyone experienced like this before? What's with the google penalty?

I hope this is gonna last a bit longer though. #fingerscrossed

Interesting... if Google is running a "zone" strategy maybe your site on the old server was in a flagged "zone". The only other thing I can think of is that taking it offline for a while reset the flag. That would be a HUGE hack if it is reproducible.

Your domain was flagged for unnatural linkbuilding. It still stays flagged, so deindexing and reindexing from a different server was a real smart move. You should do just fine with the new domain. Bank hard.

I Read about something like this just yesterday on moz I think, how long was the site deindexed?
It seems like google only mask out your results if you do it for a short period.

Yeah I got negative seo from my competitors and that's how I got the penalty. I know that disavowing them won't help much, so I decided to build new quality links instead. Glad that my hard work is finally paid off.

I did not use any 301 redirection. I'm using the same domain.

How long ago was this? I had a site with manual penalty 2 years ago and disavowed but never bothered to send a reconsideration request. I just added it today to WMT and shows as no manual penalty! So penalties do expire on their own!

I m guessing your old server ip was blocked for some reasons or some issue with hold server.

I don't remember exactly but it's been few months. There's no need for you to send a reconsideration request though. Just put it back online on a different hosting and build new links (if you think the site still worth it).

No, it has nothing to do with the server ip or whatsoever. It's a big hosting company we're talking about. I'm pretty sure it's due to the negative seo.

I meant it now shows 'No Manual Action', where previosly it showed 'Unnatural Links', so lifted it by itself.....i couldnt request reconsideration if i wanted to anyway!! Its the .com of one of my brands (been using .org) so will just 301 it for more link juice.
