Overcoming new MOZ API limitations

Just an update: I submitted a ticket to Moz and asked them to whitelist my IP. I ended up getting an upgraded account via a groupbuy (thanks for the recommendation yasburrows) and that too returned the same results, so it is likely my VPS IP that got flagged.
The group buy looks solid though... would definitely recommend it from what I have seen so far!

Haha yes I have birdies everywhere. :)

The thing about the firewall is that you can create requests in Scrapebox, netpeak, a browser etc... and make 2 requests completely identical, byte for byte and 1 will go thru and 1 will get blocked, it seems very random.

That said Ive talked to a few people that did get their ip whitelisted via moz and then it was all good. Also it does work sometimes for some people, its weird.

Anyway, glad that the group buy is working out. A full buy might be worth it.

After you find the available Web 2.0s, use URL Profiler to check them through Moz. It has the capability of holding a 5 seconds gap between each usage of 10 API credits.

Could you expand on this? Didn't mean to ignore ya... simply misread the initial post. URL profiler? You mean manually checking all the URLs? I have a list of over 100,000 available web 2.0s that I need MOZ data on :)

Moz installed incapsula just before they reduced the limit to 25K. For a good bit there they had it turned up an incapsula was blocking lot of valid requests from all sorts of tools, including scrapebox, in a browser, etc...

Well lots of Sbox users and other tool users around the globe emailed them about it and after a bit they backed off and things started working.

Well now they must have it turned back up because again they are blocking valid requests even in a browser, and of course in scrapebox etc...

The best I could say is to mail them and ask if your moz account/ip can be whitelisted to not get blocked. But they are on a mission to eliminate as much free traffic as they can it seems.

Good to see your still around as well mate. :)

I've signed up just to reply to this, I usually lurk and this has been a bothersome issue. I've been using SB for a while and I've run into this issue recently.

I tried contacting both ScrapeBox and Moz about this. Moz's replies have been irritating. SB support told me to contact Moz, so I did.

In the first reply from Moz, I was told that Moz does not whitelist keys or IPs. And when I furthered my query asking about SB, they told me SB is "breaking their Terms of Use" and that SB doesn't seem to be willing to communicate with Moz to fix the issue. They claim that their API is "working as it should" and the only users having issues are the ones using SB. Then they've gone and suggested a list of tools that works with Moz. Nice way to slide in your business partners. Sounds to me like they're trying to limit browser requests and favoring their partners.

This is quite irritating as neither PageRank (Which likely will never work again) nor Page Authority functions for me recently. Could anybody help me with this?

Interesting. You should have shared this on the scrapebox thread as well: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...per-auto-blog-commenter-prstorm-mode-395.html

What I gather from all this is... MOZ is out to cripple Scrapebox... at least scrapebox users using the MOZ API. Then again, other tools sound like might have a similar issue too. Either way... politics aside, the only question remains is: How can we get the MOZ API to work in Scrapebox again?

We don't have an alternative option to replace MOZ with, so I think it's time for Scrapebox to do the unthinkable and suck up to MOZ. For everyone involved, lets resolve this "cold war" between these two super powers :knuddel:. From the sounds of it that is what MOZ is really after and I know it's something ScrapeBox doesn't really want to do (and rightfully feels it shouldn't have to do) but I think it's time for the US and Cuba to hug it out.

Which ever the case, all I want to do is go back to using Moz via scrapebox... even if it's on a more limited capacity. So damn it... let's figure this out, lol

I'm glad that I found this thread, I had just created a few new moz accounts to test their api and I ran into this.. it isn't working for me either, all data is reported as 0.

I'm glad that I saved a scraped list of about 5k blogs all over 30 PA before this started happening, at least I can get my work going.

I hope this gets figured out soon.

OP, did you try opensiteexplorer?

I have the same problem from few days.

A guy from Moz asked me to send SB support their specific individual email, so I sent it to SB support and I'm waiting for an answer.

Nope! This is the tool --> urlprofiler.com

I think there is a few of us that got a similar response and have contacted SB support already. Hoping this gets resolved promptly... am a huge SB fan and would hate to change that, lol.

Downloading it now. Will try this... knock on glass it'll work!

It's Working!

Ok... quick update: As I was downloading URLprofiler (as recommended by rpkrocks above) I decided to give the ScrapeBox Page Authority checker addon one more shot. And it worked!!!

Here's why it worked: They whitelisted my IP. I'm certain of this. It didn't just happen though. When I first asked Moz support (from within a free account) to whitelist my IP they (more or less) told me "this is all done automatically by Incapsula and we have no ability to Whitelist IPs".
I get it... there are hundreds of thousands of users abusing the Moz system. It's time to tighten things up a bit and get rid of freebie seekers. Afterall, they're not the ones helping MOZ pay their bills and yet are the ones dragging down their system the most.
I get this... business is business. I would do the same if I owned Moz.
So my second email? Paid account baby. Show them the money. I showed them that I am actually adding to their bottom line by paying for an upgraded business account... and explained how I am unable to use the service I am paying for because my IP is blocked. I didn't get a response, but my MOZ API is working again. To me that means they manually overrode Incapsula and whitelisted my IP. How else would it suddenly work perfectly again?

So not exactly sure what Moz TOUs scrapebox is breaking, but Moz is determined to raise the bar and ScrapeBox (along with other scraping tools) just aren't quite complying yet. I have a feeling it won't take long though before SB comes out with an update.

Here's the thing: If your API stopped working properly, it likely means your IP got blacklisted (I assume from abusing the shits out of free accounts). I doubt you will get it white listed again from a free account - so time to pay the piper. Get a paid account (even if it's via a group buy), it's well worth it.

Sure it costs a few dollars you didn't have to pay before, but think of the competitive advantage you will have over other SEOs that are too cheap or poor (or plain dumb) to upgrade. Everything changes, I know, but such is the nature (evolution) of SEO.

Either way, I love ScrapeBox and absolutely love being able to use MOZ with it finally again... so I'm a happy camper. Got 100k URLs itching to get scanned ;)

If you have any questions, please let me know. A "thanks" wild be greatly appreciated as well :D

Thanks for the update agentk, and I think you might have gone through a bit of trouble for no reason.. because it just started working for me too, I just tested it..

But I'd say that it's worth paying for it too.
