I am working on a viralnova style website for a specific niche, I have been researching the market for some time and one of the things I often read is the need for a fast VPS for the website? Are there any choices that I should pay close attention to for this? Also I was going to build the site using wordpress but I read online that wordpress does not allow google adsense, is that true or am I getting things mixed up? Please be patient with me , I am noob and I am still trying to learn the basics.

1. you only need a vps if you get a huge amount of treaffic you can't handle and so a vps would be cheaper and give you more bandwith (depends on the size of course), you can start with shared hosting (hostgator, hostmonster etc...) and move you website once you have enough traffic and the site becomes a bit slow for your visitors.

2. who told you you can't use adsense on wordpress? 100% false. i have adsense on my WordPress website with on issues.

So I should just build something simple on wordpress and that's it? Any other software I should consider working with?

SSD VPS, apache+nginx, Wordpress, WP Super Cache. Optimizing your Wordpress website by a programmer is also advised.

A few additional remarks. Once your website starts getting popular, you're likely to run into some problems with your hosting. I'll assume that you're going to popularize your website through social media, like Facebook, Twitter, etc. This means it has the potential to become viral, and when it does, you'll have a lot of connections to your VPS within a short amount of time, and it won't be able to hold that. Unlike other websites, where the traffic is evenly spread out throughout the day, viral websites often run in the complication that at their most profitable peaks, their VPS/server is down.

For example, one of our clients sometimes reaches 200,000 visits per hour when they post new content on Facebook. It took them 3 hosting providers (who eventually rejected them, but kept the money), and 1 week of our own time to determine what configuration they'll need to be able to hold those peak moments. It's no easy job.

Be prepared to pay a lot more for hosting especially if you're using Wordpress. A solution to lower hosting costs once you become popular is to make your website in .html. I'm not sure if you'd want that.

This is not something that you should be thinking of now, but it's for future reference ;).

Get an Amazon EC2 instance with autoscaling, although at this point it's most likely premature optimization.
If you're not technical Wordpress is the best option hands down, because there are plugins for pretty much everything.

Is this viral websites worth any investment now? Traffic might be good but untargeted so...with adsense the earnings will be low ..

You don't need vps right now. Just buy shared hosting on like hostgator (any hater here?) and start with self-hosted wordpress (wordpress.org). Adsense is not allowed on wordpress.com. Both are different. It will take months before you even need a vps practically. Also you may give up before that. So you can thank me later for saving your money atm.

Well the idea is two fold one would be a viral style website. Just to get my feet wet, the other would be a news portal/viral style site that I will be supporting with paid ads in my target region. It will be a bit more legitimate and will have a dedicated budget for ads and what not. I kinda wanted to be prepared ahead of time in case the site can't handle the traffic early on after the first rounds of ads.

Try digitalocean, they are great and you can start with only $20 per month.

You can start with shared hosting, wordpress, caching and cloudflare, but once you' start hitting a few hundred people online at once you're going to need to upgrade. If you're serious, don't start with shitty hosting. Your big break will be cut short by a dead website if something goes viral.

One option, you can start with WP on shared hosting
When ever your post get high traffic, save those links on hosting as static file html...

That's exactly what I am trying to avoid, I would rather invest early and be prepared for the traffic after the first round of advertising which is why I was asking for the best VPS options for someone just starting out.
