What's everyones thoughts on the following strategy - get a load of accounts commenting (trying to be natural with the type of comments) asking people to check out the main account. i.e. 100 accounts doing 100 comments a day. Do you think its enough to get any real traction?

I'll be honest with you, Instagram has many pros/cons. I love how it is set up, as it takes away the hassles we had on myspace, and fb when it comes to account creation and such. But when you are trying to do business, promote and get traffic you dont wan't to get caught up and labeled like most spammers and be thrown into that category. Its been hard for me to get real active users vs. a bunch of fake account follows.

this strategy has been used so many times and you will just risk getting all of your accounts banned

While this method will work, there are concussions. I had a bad experience while doing this for a few months straight. IG never really caught me but the users started to fight back and 'hire' these anti-spammers and spam comments on my feed all day long. It was a nightmare trying to delete these random long post saying to stop spamming, etc,etc.

OP make really good spun comments and start applying slowly and see how it goes, don't abuse it just use it like a booster.

Scraper( has a point, otherwise manually commenting with the intention of engaging your users in a niche is great too. It may or will be a hassle, but as once mentioned in a thread somewhere in this forum, if you love the niche you're in, it won't feel like much work.

I would suggest you to run contest instead of getting comments from fake or dummy accounts. Social media is all about interaction, conversation and entertainment. No one is going to follow brand which looks fake because your users may notice the comments from your audience.

That one is tough, never happend to me.
I had 50 accounts spamming 200 comments a day. All of them were over a year old. They spammed for around a week before they were banned, and they managed to make a brand new funny niche IG get 15k followers, and 1000-2000 likes on each picture.
I paid a dollar each for the accounts, and I sold the account for $150.
It was fun while it lasted, but it's not a long-term strategy. You can do it for a week, but if you continue to do it, then you will end up with the same issue as duceduc.
