Hey, guys,
I've been thinking about setting up a site with funny pictures, slideshows, "top 10 x", etc. and driving traffic through Facebook, forums and chats.

1. I will make a Facebook page with lots of likes. I want to make something like the TipTopLolz FB page . People like to browse through such mediocre content, so the biggest problem is getting the page its first few thousand likes.

2. I will spam different forums - I will make bots go through a few hundred really big forums, choose the most generic sections for each forum (like "Offtopic", "Media" and "Politics" - not specific to the main topic of the forum) and start posting threads with some of the bots and replies with the others.
I will scrape a few thousand topics/ responses. Most forums are on vBulletin, phpBB and a few other platforms so changing a bot that works on 1 forum to work on the others will be relatively easy. I will make the accounts manually so I don't have to deal with CAPTCHAs and stuff like that.
All it takes is registering in let's say 300 forums (manually), putting the link/ banner of the site in the signature (manually), scraping content (manually) and then making threads once or twice a day and replying with similar frequency. There's a lot of initial overhead, but once the accounts/ signatures/ topics/ bots are ready, it's pretty much on autopilot.

3. I will make bots that will spam Omegle and other chat sites all day every day. This is the easiest method, I will maybe have to use URL shorteners if my URL gets banned.

4. I will not invest any time in SEO, besides a little on site optimization. I want my site to get traffic from the above methods and maybe people sending funny URLs through Skype and whatnot. Neglecting SEO is the way to go, because I will only create backlinks from LPR forums and Facebook.

5. The site itself is trivial to make - even WordPress would work.

So that seems like a good way to drive traffic to yet another 9gag-like site.
The only problem I have is what ad networks to choose. Should I go for CPM or CPC? Could a network ban me for spamming the link to the site?

Getting the page a few thousand likes from people who like to like is very simple. Take the page you mentioned, copy it, copy its image and name. Wait for the page to post something, and then make a comment with your copied page, saying "like our new page" New page is the one you want to set up, not the copy of their page.

Now you have targeted likers, people who just cannot help clicking that like button on Facebook.

CPM, if people browse 10 slideshows you get 10 page views, I don't think abybody will stop having fun looking at the pictures on your site to click an ad.

That's a good idea! And I agree that it's easy to make a good FB page. There are tons of ways to do it.

I was thinking CPM, too. But if the impression-to-click ratio is really small, will the ad network lower the price per impression?
