Why don't you figure out how you will beat him rather than complaining. Ratting people out is a true sign of a hater.

You should take what he has done and figure out if you have the balls to risk it and do it better than him. If you do or don't it doesn't matter to me, but this is your business so you better start figuring it out because if there is money in your niche I will guarantee you that this won't be the last time someone does this.

Telling on this person makes you a rat, and for all you know he could just blast you with 100000000 crappy links.

Why don't you make some other sites, look at what he is doing, put a twist on it and go from there so your money site is safe. That is if you don't want to risk it.

If you do want to risk it, you also have to ask yourself if that number 1 position is worth possibly losing after google or whoever figures it out ( if it is as bad as you say it is)

I had to dismiss a compromised windows installation once (rootkit), did I felt 'respect' for that scriptkiddy? Fuck, no! That asshole-Robin Hoods don't steal assets from the wealthy and powerful. I would hold in there. If there is an obvious footprint like you mentioned (-25000px CSS rule every link) then Google will likely catch on eventually. Keep doing what your doing and you will hopefully beat him in the long run.

On another note: don't report him. He will likely get what's coming but Google probably wont care in the slightest if you request some kind of manual action.

What on earth are you talking about? The OP is bitching because the guy outdone him in ranking not that he hacked HIS site? Your case is different and tough luck to you if you don't know how to protect your own servers! OP I feel your pain. The black in me though is impressed with his sneakyness. But still - sucks for you! He isn't directly targeting you so morally, targeting him back (e.g. creating copies of his website) would be immoral. So if you don't want to do that, and you can't hack websites/won't hack websites to keep up and don't have a comparable link network of your own, I'd instead opt to move niches if you can. If you WERE ranking well in this niche and this guy is willing to go this far, it sounds competitive. Mark out your own territory!
