Got My First Client!

this///

use this client for your testimonials...you will land more clients with it

I plan on doing just that, the only problem is that I haven't been searching for leads as much I should because of school and have been focusing on this one client. When I am done with my studies, I plan on going all out on my marketing. I will of course use this client as reference.

UPDATE:

Alright, so I have gotten her to sign a contract explaining the service and what exactly I am providing (web and logo design). I had started making the site, but let her know I require 50% of payment before the project completion, and 50% after. I am currently waiting on the the first installment of the payment, and will finish the site.

Oh, and thanks to BHW again, I was able to upsell some SEO to her for a monthly fee. I'll try to keep you guys updated!

Wow, this is great. What did you upsell her, and how much monthly?

Nice on your success, but how did you get craigslist people to respond? I never get a response back whenever I answer ads lol.

Thanks, and I really don't know lol. I guess I try to be as professional as possible and give a quick pitch of who I am, what I do, and how well I'll do it.

Nice. Thats a really good start! How many keywords are you ranking for her per month

Now, thats where I screwed up. I didn't arrange how many keywords I would do. I offered and pitched SEO, and she just asked how much, and when I could start. I threw a price, she took it. When I speak with her on Tuesday (Victoria Day on Monday), I'll explain that her $600/m deal with me is only for 10 keywords. If she ever wants more, the price will obviously go up.

that is great my friend, i will try that too, posting on craiglist and kijiji and other classified ads site

To clarify, I did NOT post on Craiglist/Kijiji for any lead. I merely replied to whoever seemed to be looking for web design. Sure theres a lot (and I mean A LOT) of other random web-designers posting their services on classified sites, but you look for that one ad every 1-2 pages actually looking for someone to pitch their service to them. Reply back to those ads, because IMO, those leads are already pre-sold on the importance of having an online presence. All you have to do is show why YOU are the best candidate for the job.

The first is the sweetest :) Congrats. Now way over deliver them on quality, and be sure they wrtite you a positive testimonial.... "guys would you mind leaving a bit of feedback for future prospects?" Post that on your site, use it in your marketing.... plus they may give you good word of mouth referrals!

Congratulations kakki9, I agree with SEO Alchemy. Over deliver and try to offer them a monthly subscription to your service. keep it up:congrats:

Hey Sneeks, regarding snail mail:

Have you had any success with snail mail as way to get clients? I've been really considering starting a direct mailing campaign and see what kind of results I get.
