I did a search in the BHW forums for this topic but only came up with old (pre-2010) posts. So I'm starting a new topic.
Newb question here but it's important.

Can I dropship products worth about $50/each from my Amazon Prime account (I paid $79/year) to the customer? Would Amazon ban my account? If this is doable, that'd be amazing because I get "free 2 day shipping" on most items. So I could just give the customer one flat price for their product let's say $65 and say I'll include 2 day shipping free. Pocket the rest.

If this isn't doable, I guess what are my other options? I'm from Chicago so the Amazon Associates account isn't available in Illinois, though I could send checks to Mom in Indiana. Or I could get ripped on Affiliates for maybe 8% /sale, plus the customer has to sign up with whatever website that is.

There is a product wholeseller near me but he required an actual business license (LLC) to be legitimate. Plus I don't want to hold such expensive product.

Yeah, why wouldn't you be able to? Amazon is still making money on each product sale. And you can ship the item as a "gift" to your customer.

because i'm abusing the free shipping and if something goes wrong with the order they can blame Amazon. and they are my customers, not Amazon's
I've heard many people complain about Amazon banning them because of them using their Prime acct

Amazon tends to ignore the whole "gift" checkbox. The customer might be peeved when he sees a lower price on the box

Best thing for you to do is to ship the product to yourself and find the most cost effective way (cheapest) to send it to your customers. Since shipping is only 2 days your customer should be able to get it in 5-6 days, and with "free shipping" I doubt they will have a problem with the wait time. Also that will give you the opportunity to throw away any type of purchase order info so that will conceal the price you paid and you could even ad your own purchase order or advertisement so you look more like a legit biz. The key would be finding the cheapest way to redeliver which will probably be usps.

What are you selling and from what wholesaler? I want to get in on the "know."

You sir, should probably understand that it isn't a wise idea to reveal your niche and if the OP knows anything, they would keep silent on what they're selling, or looking to sell.

I really appreciate your advice. I didn't really want to do the mailings myself but maybe I should research how I would do that. I am very good at graphics and could do some killer invoices or even upsell offers. Amazon would definitely give me the best price too I would think ;) +Thanks

I've been on BHW since 2009 ;) I'm not THAT big of a noob. Not on your life rodprv. It's a physical product that I could get from Amazon, that's all you need to know. ;)

Absolutely NO clue what you are saying. :( Sorry. I've seen you spamming other posts though so not interested.

You could definitely do it. But if you're too worried about abusing the free shipping option and getting a ban down the road, you can try the amazon>to you>and to customer approach. I wrote a thread recently about how I made money buying cheap online and reselling for profit. I took the - ship to me>then to customer approach. Even-though shipping to my address wasn't free (like amazon) from the source, it worked very well for me and got me good profit margin's.

No prob, I may actually implement this plan myself it's just all about finding a product(s) where the profit margin is worth the hassle.

I have a prime account too. Can definitely get some good deals, but anyone who checks around on prices before purchasing would be quick to notice. I believe when you send things as gift orders the invoice will not list price, not sure on that part though.

But if she ships it to herself, then turns around and reships it, then the shipping will not be "free" for the customer.

I say ship it to yourself, then ship it off to the customer. That way it all stays under your name.

I know quite a few arbitagers who had their Prime account banned from sending out too many orders. Amazon do have free shipping options, but these are normally over $25 items and 3-5 biz days.

First problem, if you dropship via Amazon, your buyers simply won't like the fact that their DVD's come arrived with an Invoice showing how much You paid, and with the Amazon logo all over the box. This could result in lower DSR's and can kill your business pretty quickly.Even if it sent as a gift, no invoice is included, however, they can check easily on Amazon what was the original price.

Then second, this is from Amazon:

From Amazon - Note: Prime is not available for customers who purchase products for the purpose of resale or use Prime to ship products to their customers or potential customers.

This is totally possible to do but you should be aware Amazon will ban the account if you dropship to too many people. The way to get around this is to get the 30 day trial and then b4 the 30 days is up you cancel the prime account. You then open a new prime account with a different email address. You can even use the same exact credit card. Then b4 the 30 days is up you cancel the account again and repeat the process. i have been doing this for a few months now without any issues.

Also of note is the fact that many of the big name retailers offer free shipping so do not limit yourself to just Amazon. This is a great way to make money btw.

One more tip: use this site to calculate Ebay and paypal fees so you know how much to mark each item up
