Doesn't this kill brain cells?

Yes, weed also rapes your dog, drives your car into brickwall and sends all your money to a Nigerian prince.

I've heard this from weed smokers themselves. It's apparently not good to smoke and then go to sleep.

Smoking weed in teenage years slows brain growth. By the time these kids reach 20, they are dumber than the average population.

Nope it doesn't.

Actually it is just substituing a neuronal liquid which is used to connect neuron to each others. So your brain cells are surviving. However, this liquid stays for a long time in your brain which is the reason why you are getting used to the effect when you smoke daily. On another hand, it creates new connections that could be permanent and it alters your behaviour.

And yes it reduces your IQ for a few years but not your whole life. I'm not sure about the real effect when you smoke while your brain is growing.

To answer op's genuine question, i have the issue too, it has been a few years i haven't have a regular sleeping rythm. The causes are more likely shared stress, anxiety and excitement about ideas you may have.

However, doing excercises help a bit, and you must follow your body. You should have proper time when you feel like you'll collapse, you can go through it in struggling, but you shouldn't. As soon as you feel it, go to bed, and you'll sleep. Do some naps too. Just listen to your needs.

There is 2 supplements i recomend that will help with yoiur general health and helps with sleep due to vitamin content, Spirulina and wheatgrass. Also try and do some exercise and have a sauna afterwards if you have a gym with these facilities. You will begine to sleep like a log trust me.

doctors will just prescribe you addictive sleeping pills with loads of side effects, it wont solve your actual problem. Take 500mg calcium and 250 mg of magnesium once per day a few hours before you go to bed. These two help relax the nervous system and make it easier to sleep. Also take a B vitamin complex in the morning. Whatever you do dont take prescription bullshit.

also smoke weed.

Drink until you pass out does work but unfortunately your body will not go into a regenerative REM state so you will wake up just as tired. Weed has different effects on different people and there are hundreds of different strains. I can have powerful dreams on weed but it wont help me sleep, you will also experience what I call a "dullover" on weed where with persistent use you will feel 15% stoned all the time.

Sex is proven to work. A good session will put you into a chilled state. If thats not an option then I recommend some of the sleep and relax apps for Apple and Android. I sleep real good at the moment but in times of major pressure I found The ones by Scottish Hypnotist Andrew Johnson would put me off in a few minutes.

When I can't sleep because my mind keeps thinking about stuff, I just say to myself..... I don't care anymore...stop caring about other stuff then your sleep and you'll see that your mind will stop rambling on.... It works for me atleast

I also have insomnia. I can fall asleep, but can't stay asleep. I was prescribed something called rozerem, but it made me sleep wayyy too much. Have you tried Melatonin (natural) or Unisom (over the counter)? How bad is your insomnia?

Smoking weed or boozing will not help you everyday. Just try any kind of meditation.

Melatonin is kind of the accepted weak-sauce over-the-counter method of helping you sleep (it's the chemical your brain releases when it gets dark, to indicate it's time to sleep. More commonly used to help get over jet lag). Best parts about it: does not change your mental state, is not addictive, and gives me (personally, anyway) crazy dreams (in a good way ;)). Worst parts: weak-sauce

Sleeping pills can get kind of fucked :(, but it might be less messed up than having an impossible sleep schedule. They're also guaranteed to put you to sleep no matter what.

Pot and booze work, but they also may affect your functionality outside of sleep :(.

Trazodone was prescribed to me for sleep once, though at first it seemed an odd choice (Technically an Anti-depressant, not a sleeping pill, but it's one of the low-key, mellowing types, not an SSRI. Commonly used to treat sleep disturbances. Slight withdrawal, but nothing coming close to a hangover).
Worked pretty well for me, I suppose. Definitely see a doctor. Over the counter meds probably aren't going to help very much. It might take a bit before you get something that helps, but you'll find it. :D

Sleep on it you'll be fine after a good nights kip my friend.

I know the feeling bro, I have the exact same problem. I go to bed about 1 AM but don't actually fall asleep till 5 - 6 AM then I wake up at 10 AM, it is draining on your body. Went to the doctor and he basically said he don't want to prescribe sleeping pills incase I get addicted. Things I fount help were reading for a hour before getting into bed, this makes your eyes tired, drinking a warm cup of milk, no sounds not even relaxing music! And all else fails then try herbal sleeping pills from your local pharmacy.

wait till you have kids......4 hour sleep is past "dream" :-)

Sounds like stress. ^^^ Need to switch off way before sleep time and learn to "relax" I never swith my computer on now past 6pm.
