Anyone willing to adopt a newbie?

You just need to do tons and tons of reading , and get your feet wet with what feels comfortable. If you spend some time on trial and error, you'll find out what you're good at in the IM field.

just curious.. what did you end up focusing on?

random cpa product, adsense, or something else?

how did you end up marketing it so far? seo, social media, or something else?

I tried a bunch of stuff out of the gate, an affiliate sex toy site that I tried to market to a Christian audience:
A yoga site that is monetized with an ebook, Amazon and an offer from CJ:
A hotel affiliate site:
Most of the traffic has been from word of mouth (friends), old-fashioned flyer posting on a bulletin-board, and blog posts, which I then posted on Digg, Stumbleupon, etc.
My ISP does not seem to like the sex toys site (I'm in Singapore) and I cannot get into the admin panel to tweak it...oddly enough, I can tweak it at work. I've pretty much been ignoring that site since I can do 0 work on it from home. I've been promoting the other sites via Twitter (using TweetAttacks) and trying to build backlinks with SB. I've done a few Fiverr gigs as well, with the most recent being

Actually this is a forum where people share their experience, opinion or suggestion and it's different with your university. You paid for your education so you get a teacher. You don't pay anything here so you have to be a more proactive person. Bhw is a gold mine and nobody wants to spoonfeed you how to dig to get the gold. You should learn by yourself by looking at "Blackhat SEO" section for example..

Not true. Lots of people with MBAs fresh out of getting their masters do not have jobs yet. Also maybe he doesn't feel like doing the 9-5 thing.

when I was a newb I learned by shutting the fuck up, listening, and then gained experience by doing. Then only spoke out when I had enough knowledge to help someone out that at least took the time to slightly educate themselves.

you might be used to college, where you paid to get spoon fed the information, but in the real world you go out and find it yourself. trust me there are a million and one people in the IM world that will be more than happy to take your money to teach you on the subject, so if you got the money then go spend lots of it. but if not it's extremely easy to find it for free or learn it on your own.

hint: search by ratings right here in this forum... now go out there and be somebody!

Hey dude, before earning my PhD, I worked for the largest investment bank on the planet and was an officer in the US Army, so before you start telling me about the 'real world', you'd better check yourself. K?

As for IM, yes, I asked for some insights about 6 months ago when I was brand new...not a crime as far as I am aware, and I've accomplished a great deal in life because I learned to ask questions of people who are smarter/more experienced than I am.

I have tried to give back to others here where I can, so cut me some slack please instead of dredging up a months-old post and calling for me to be banned...what's up with that? There's enough hate in the world dude, perhaps you're just trolling, but I just don't get where you're coming from...I'm too chill.
