Oh please! Don't do like me! Don't read for months and months. Read just a few ebooks and here and there on IM forums, after you know something more about services and methods on how to make money online start to put it in action, ASAP. You will lose money, time, but you'll find your away sooner than reading for months or years.

The reason that is a poor analogy and why you got the initial response you did is becuase it is more like this:

You and your colleagues all paid a lot of money to become a professor, you did a lot of research on your own, a lot of trial and error, a lot of failed attempts, and finally after all that work you succeeded. Then you have droves of "students" coming along who don't want to pay tuition, don't want to research, don't want to learn, don't want to experiment. They instead come to you saying "I want to be a professor too, can you just make me a professor?". Or better yet, "I don't even want to become a professor, can you just sign over your paychecks to me?"

This forum is full of so many beggars, so it tends to really piss people off.
 
Mix up your reading.

I suggest: the "Getting Started" type of posts here in the forums.

Any post with 5 stars and great reviews of someone sharing their technique for ranking is also good.

Initially, however, I would read guides such as those found on SEOmoz and SearchEngineLand, great sites to learn the basics.

Also, check out blogs like SmartPassiveIncome, ViperChill, MattCuts blog, Copyblogger, etc, for people who will teach you about WordPress SEO in particular.

Browse BlackHatWorld, but don't go chasing every topic, a lot of topics on this site are shit, but there are a few people who know what they are really doing (they are usually Mods and the like).

Also, stay the fuck away from WarriorForum lol
 
OK, so a little update...I've stuck with it...took people's advice here...read a ton of stuff on BHW. I've made about $200 in the last couple months combined, so while I'm not exactly on the cover of Forbes (yet)...I'm chuffed.

Of course, I am still learning and exploring new ideas...and I'm still a bit embarrassed by how much I don't know, but I just wanted to say 'thanks again' to those who took 5-10 min to help me out when I first stopped by BHW a few months ago!

I'm using this thread as a resource for other noobs who come with similar questions...trying to be environmentally friendly by recycling your answers! :-)

Well first of all welcome to the forum christian; if you put your mind to it you could be making money soon enough. However you're going to fail more times than you succeed, its your job to ignore the failures and to keep digging till you hit the jackpot. In my opinion IM is best done in non-pressure situations where the moneys NOT needed, (when your starting off) that way if you are not lazy you are free to experiment with various methods and put them into play with your own twists.

My advice to you is thoroughly read the forum, i know its vague - and at first overwhelming and difficult to grasp. Just do it. Trust me. Start reading threads, popular ones, new ones, start posting, you'll start learning. You'll start forming connections.

* Start learning about SEO tools (Like Senuke, & Scrapebox)
* As I mentioned read the forum like a bible
* Understand the different ways you can make money in the respective different sects (i.e. CPA/Article writing/Adsense/Mobile Marketing)..whatever it may be.
* Soon you'll have enough knowledge to deploy a method and start creating money with your own twist.

However remember once you've got enough knowledge don't STAY on the forum constantly sitting around - once you've picked up a method, learn a method, thought of a method, with a good enough twist - DO IT. As you'll soon come to find out on this forum most people will bang on about how people don't take action, so don't be one of those people.

Top 10 things every noob needs to know about promoting an online business


  1. Top 10 lists are useless if you're serious about becoming good at something. Reading a "top 10" list on business will not make me good at running one. Reading top 10 books will.
  2. 99% of what you read about SEO is wrong. You can count the decent courses on the fingers of a hand and best knowledge you don't learn from those but from trying things yourself and discovering methods.
  3. 99.99% of people who do SEO will push the same crappy methods and techniques because they don't know better. Finding 1-2 people who are truly above the pack and becoming their friend is priceless.
  4. 99.999% of what you read about SEO will not make you serious money. Because most things you read are noob methods and don't provide a good ROI.
  5. 99% of SEO can be automated. Automating 80% of it requires 20% effort and automating the rest of 20% requires 80% effort (20/80 rule).
  6. Not knowing programming when doing SEO is equivalent to not having legs in a marathon.
  7. Reading on forums/online about SEO will not make you good at it but another noob that believes comment spam/scrapebox/xrumer/senuke is effective SEO.
  8. SEO is not a skill. Programming is a skill. Building a car from parts is a skill. Writing ad copy is a skill. SEO is the result you get from combining 5-10 skills you are GREAT at.
  9. Making more money than most people is not difficult. It is extremely difficult. You will sweat, you will outwork yourself, you will burn out, you will throw up, you will sacrifice things you wished you could do, you will neglect your life and you will forget what fun is. Then, maybe you will think it is worth it or maybe not. If you think otherwise you're not making a lot of money on your own or you got extremely lucky.
  10. You have 90% chances to quit, 99.99% chances to make very few money instead of a lot. Considering what you're asking and where you're asking this for YOU those chances are twice as worst because you're lazy and you expect others to help you in a constructive manner though you don't know shit and you didn't wanted to spend the time to at lest figure out some useful and specific questions to ask.

Thanks...lots of good pointers here. Please note, however, that I posted an update to this thread where I mentioned that I'm thankful for BHW, and that I've made +$200 in the last month or so. I just haven't learned how to repost an (update) to an old thread, which is what I'd meant to do here. ;-)
 
Hi op,

I decided to help you until you make some cash. Few conditions... What ever you do, you have to update in this thread, so it will be helpful for other newbies.

I'm good at SEO. I can rank a website really fast. I have never done cpa. I am thinking to start now and have an idea in my mind.

We both will be building similar sites just targeting different keywords. Since I have never done cpa before, we both will be newbie in this. I am thinking to start in few days. Let me know if you are interested.

You have to pay for your own domain and hosting. And nothing else. After that you have to work your ass off... If you are ready let me know. Lets start!

This thread is funny as it reminds me of when i first started a year ago on warriorforum.

I would try and mention in my posts how i had a degree in philosophy and soon realized noone gave a shit. :D

Then I also realized warriorforum are full of shit too and came here but that is another matter :)

just curious.. what did you end up focusing on?

random cpa product, adsense, or something else?

how did you end up marketing it so far? seo, social media, or something else?
 
Better read this forum, some journals, ebooks for at least 5-6 hrs everyday, You will at least learn how to start within a week if you are smart. If you still feel miserable, I can help you for a price. :D
