Using multiple blogs to improve my SEO. Does it still work?

I have a serious helath related site. Decided to purchase 20 domains names that i plan to use as blogs with 10 articles max each to improve my main sites SEO. Is this way still effective?
I have heard that if you do not have a reseller hosting account google can easily follow the footprints and find out that your main site is related to these 20 sites.
Do i need a different IP for every site?
What is the safest way to do this?
Also i am using a "baby hostgator plan" which allows you only have sub-domains hosted. Would this baby plan work or i need a reseller account to avoid sandbox?

If you are planning to use these sites to build link farms, which is what it sounds like what you are suggesting, then yes, you should have them on different IPs.

Baby plan won't work since that is a shared hosting account. You need to get a different IP address for each site, so you should look into hosting services that have packages specifically for your needs.

You need far more than 20 to get decent results and you will need unique c-class ip for each website.

As everybody mentioned get unique IP's.... Blog farms are the way to go frankly as google is getting smarter and smarter on a daily basis. So get hosting with different C class IP's

OR... you can setup wordpress.com/blogger accounts and associate a domain with the blog.

In the end the 20 websites you would get would all have c class IP's and you dont have to worry about a thing like host management etc

No they have millions of IP's so that does not happen ... You can create 2 blogs and see what IP's they get

I have purchased these domains coz i dont want anyone else to get them. Since i have them i would rather have them online and do what i can than redirect them to my main site which is pointless for SEO.
You are right my keywords have lots of competition, but i have managed to be #1 for two important local keywords. With an additional 20x2 links it will help at least keep the site #1 for those two key words at least. So i guess it is worth trying.

If i can get different ips this way that would be sweet coz i dont want my main site compromised in any way. I will try wordpress and see how it works. Thnx for the reply though

Do i need to use proxy to setup these blogs? I dont know if google can somehow find out through cookies. See i really want to avoid any complications with the main site.
Do you use blog farming yourself? If you could make a list of things that need to be done it will be helpful for everyone in here.

Autoblog 1, 2 and 3 linking to main site. Autoblogs 4 and 5 would link to nr 1. Or something similar.

The idea being to end up with a layer of autoblogs to safely scrapebox/rss submit/bmd the bejeezus out of. Probably wouldn't hurt to add some web 2.0s into that layer as well.

Just keep in mind, to use your domain nameservers & change the domain registrant a few times.

Better safe then sorry!

If you plan to interlink your network, this is a whole other issue and needs a lot of thoughtful thinking and planing before.

No, most hosting accounts will just change the last block of numbers which isn't enough.
xxx.xxx.xxx.1111
xxx.xxx.xxx.2222
That tells google it's the same location.
I think, and someone can correct me if I'm wrong, the second last block would be enough of a change.

On that note, I have a competitor making millions, and has about a 100 site link farm. All he hash is a "links" page, and links to each site.
I think most are on unique IPs, but I think registration info is all the same. And up until just recent, they were all on the same template.
He has numerous #1 rankings, and many of the sites have no other incoming links. Which annoys the fuck out of me because I know my ass would get caught lol.

Thanks for the suggestion. I looked into that option a while ago, but it doesn't really work well with the strategy I'm using.

That said, would you say you can achieve the same thing with a dozen high quality blogs with videos and .info domains as you would with 1000 spammy ones with web 2.0 domains and no videos?

One caveat is you'd have to blast your tier ones for lack of a significant tier 2 or 3 layer. (Does that even make a difference?)

As others have stated you need to have a different C Class IP's period. Also you should mix up your registrar company.

I am not talking about private vs public or the name there... although they should also be different, I am speaking about where you buy the domain names.

You really need to have all aspects of the network to be as random as you can.

Don't create a true link wheel either, randomize the network.

Don't do a mind map with a pattern even if you randomize the connection between each domain. In other words if you have it random, but your definition of random has some sort of pattern, you will get noticed.

Create a mind map or schematic to keep track of your network but basically (for a lack of better words) throw a dart (not really just be really random) to see who links to who and do not reciprocate.

Yah proxies are important. You can build 5 blogs on each google account and 1 WP blog with one proxy. So that should not be an issue!

We kinda provide the "solution" for building blog farms so thats basically correct
