Well, that is the point. I merely asked because I have been reading this whole thread (still not finished, lol), because I want to learn and I don't want to be asking questions that have been answered a million times before. So one of the questions I could not figure out from watching the vid's from Scrapebox and Loopline and reading trough this thread and also the official / unofficial user guide was the one above. And you are right, I wouldn't mess with something I don't know what it is. But that's another reason I ask, so I do know why to mess or not to mess with a feature or setting

Quick question: Is there any advantage in using 10 private proxies + 50 public proxies, over just 10 private proxies? I've been using private proxies for a while, but read a lot of posts where people are using a combination. Any reason for this?

Depends on what you're going to use them for. For posting, I think private proxies only is the best bet as they don't burn out unlike public proxies.
But this comes completely opposite on harvesting. You should not use your private proxies to scrape SEs 'cause this will get your IPs banned which will be lifted eventually but still its a pain to see your private proxies blocked by Google.
I'd recommend harvesting some good public proxies to scrape and then using private proxies to post

If some of the proxies that you tested are blocked you can hit the unlock button and it will go thru the list and try to unlock them.
You might have to enter some captchas in the process.

Im not sure but I think the new harvester only shows passes or failed. I dont think it shows blocked. Do you use the old harvester?

You actually don't even have to install it. It runs stand alone from a folder on your desktop.
I got a copy of proxyfire which hopefully,after I finish figuring out how to use it, will solve all of my proxy problems. It seems like a kick ass program it can hunt down proxies from the same sources SB finds them plus tons more and figures out additional proxies somehow by scanning ports I guess? How is not really important right?
Im scrape a shit ton of urls right now and those added to the few million I already have should give me around 5 million unique urls to blast away at this week. Even a 10% success rate would me me really happy!
When I start blasting I want to use all 60 of my domains at once. I know there is a way to tie the keyword(name) to the URL but I can't find it does anyone remember? I have 60 sites and I could blast them with all the same name but I rather tie it to the best keyword per url.

ex admin resigned.
i have proxy-fire free as a retired admin and proxy-fire
is no different to scrape-box, u still need links to leech
your own proxies u can then test in scrape-box.
so your worse of than when u started.
now u own scrape-box with 7 links of bad proxies
and proxy-fire which wont leech proxies without you
putting links in it to leech from. and scrape-box does
the same thing, allows u to inport links to leech
proxies from..so if u payed for proxy fire master suit,
u just wasted your money.
its a good tool with to many features un realized
the ip scanner will cripple your cpu to 100%
and lag your internet connection into the ground.
and the ip scanner is only good if u no ip ranges of
various countrys + the ports without that the ip
scanner is worthless

Yeah your right, only the old proxy harvester works with the unlock button.

Thanks you guys for clearing up what the unlock button is for. But I'm using the new proxy harvester, but I still see the Unlock button???? :scratchch

Yeah but it wont work. It will just return a message that there weren't any proxies to unlock or something similar.
I find the new harvester when testing proxies is better, tends to return more working proxies.
Thanks for clearing that up! I also use the new harvester. Just beginning to test really.. Only bought the program yesterday
