Do You Get Depressed?

My advice is to stop trying to figure out the meaning of life. It is a circular thought process and you will never figure it out, its just a waste of time that will leave you angry and depressed and drain your energy. Try to stop living in your mental analysis and get engaged in the physical world. As others said, physical exercise and a clean diet will do wonders to elevate your mood.

I've always been a bit socially awkward but I'm not sure that's why I'm depressed.

Sometimes when I'm working away I think what it would be like to have a 9 to 5, I think at some point I may get one. I used to hate it but this is a really isolating choice at times.

I guess my problem is I just struggle to put up with inane chatter, theres always someone I could chill with but it bores me easily. I value my time and the older I get the more I pity friends working for just above minimum wage and to get intoxicated on weekends. To be honest though I imagine they pity me living like a cat sometimes, even having some days in which I'll only go out for a cigarette.

My point is sometimes you have to take the shit with the smooth, everything is relative and you can't have it all, be thankful for what you do have, like your girlfriend or family.

No! Life is an exciting journey, and while it is not realistic to be happy at all times, it is all about mindset. I keep busy with my passion for my hobbies and I play as hard as I work - This world is filled with excitement and opportunity. I recently took up flying and that is my newest leisurely activity.

Now, being that this is BHW, I can see how one can get depressed trying to penetrate this business. I myself am a newbie in Internet marketing, and I work my butt off trying to make it all work. I have done quite a bit, but the big money has not rolled in yet. Because of my optimistic attitude, I totally believe that success in this business is beyond plausible, and quite probable. I think there is too much bs out there, too much info, and too many gurus trying to sell us products that keep taking us on a new direction. Focus is key. I offer this advice from the many successful business ventures I have been involved in outside of Internet marketing. I am determined to make this business work as I love to travel and I can work my business from anywhere in the world. I also dig passive income streams.

If you are still depressed, why not pursue personal development, motivation, and a new hobby?

That failing I really do feel some good exercise, perhaps an hour aerobic workout with a little sun three times a week, does wonders for the spirit and body!

I agree with your... Life kinda sucks and I don't see a point.. I don't enjoy life, its like I live to eat and sleep not sleep and eat to live.

More than ever before life these days means much less than it did further back. Life used to be a struggle so people appreciated every minute of it and made the best of it. Nowadays life seems more like a fkn chore to just live. You guys aren't the only ones who feel this way! The problem is complacency and lack of ambition as a culture, not the individual level.

The whole world "culture" is based on money and advancement of WHAT???

We as a species are not interested with our totality advancement at all... Everyone is only worried about the advancement of their own pockets. This has always been true but in the past we had many things to conquer and fight. Today we just have each other to conquer and fight! When there are no enemies left a living organism tends to turn on it's own. This is living nature, not just human nature.

Until we strive to be better as a collective and that becomes our main focus in each of our lives, NOTHING will change! Like the "star ships" the OP quoted, that kind of humanity takes a LOT of changing, we will sadly never bee what Gene Roddenberry envisioned for star trek the next generation haha! Humans can't get past the money system, to get to a place where everyone just does what job suits them, to have a collective ambition to actually be something more than mere talking monkeys.

This is why life feels empty to some people... because those some people want more... they need a purpose a passion... without purpose and passion what the fuck are we? Nothing more than some brainless cancer of this beautiful world! (chase money, eat, sleep, shit, consume - Ad infinitum)

So what's the solution? Easy! Join me in starting a separatist community somewhere where we can make our own way! No that won't work... people are too stubborn and ignorant to do that. Well what then?...

Do it for yourself! You must find people that are like you and share your life with them, ignore the masses of zombies and actively seek out the rare jems that actually still have a soul. When you surround yourself with positive people who do what you do, bettering yourselves for the sake of bettering yourselves, it just completes life. Honestly the rest of the world is headed straight downhill, the fall of the second great holy roman empire is almost at hand, and with it will be nothing but mysery.

Have we all not been watching it all our lives with our own eyes? Watch how many will either violently disagree with me or just plain ignore it. They are the problem, they don't want to be un-plugged... maybe they like being plugged? That has always been how I look at the little worms...

oh and P.S. the meaning of life is simply to live... we are nothing fkn special! The minute all humanity realizes that, we will all be free!

I agree with your... Life kinda sucks and I don't see a point.. I don't enjoy life, its like I live to eat and sleep not sleep and eat to live.

This is my thought on the matter. Honestly no matter where you live, no matter how much you make its the people around you that means everything. I do find this to be isolating but I have meet some great people through bhw and I can tell you that helped my depression out greatly. You don't need a substance to make you better you need the substance of meaningful people in your life. Hope it makes sense and my prayers are with you!

Quit worrying about exploring the planet and space. Exploring your limits is much more fulfilling. The location doesn't matter.

Reality is what you make it. Your perception. How you see it. If you see life as boring or being here 'too late' or 'a drag' etc it will be.

This is how two different people can experience the same thing and have a totally different description / feeling of it.

Focus on making the present moment that much better. Release the repeated thoughts of 'boredom etc.' and the Universe will deliver.

This thread is just simply depressing, im gonna move forward before it starts givin me rinkles

OK, my 2 cents -- The Dalai Lama says the meaning life is compassion. The deeper teachings indicate this is because our natural state is that we're connected to all things. There a -lot- of teachings about the meaning of life in the Tibetan tradition. Meditation and prayer can be useful, in part due to this interconnection.

We're also social animals like monkeys, social interaction is important...but modern society doesn't always make it easy. Modern society is isolating and alienating and not a ton of fun necessarily. Energy can get stagnant. There are some ways around this. Maybe get involved in something super creative to get things flowing better again.

If all else fails you could look at Ayahuasca, I've heard it has some powerful natural anti-depressive capabilities.

Haha, Imhotep come on man :D
It's a nice treatise but the truth is that laziness drives all progress (cars, washing machines, flight, computers...).

Sure, many have a problem with that but it's nothing new that approx. 15% of a society is progressive, the rest is just dead weight. The difference between now and then is that the 85% is not dying at the age of 35, nor are they going to bed hungry or must freeze in darkness during the winter. AND that they now have the chance to become something IF they decide to take advantage of the more accessible higher education.

To answer your question, the whole world "culture" is based on money and advancement of not having to do much in order to survive. Only if you don't have to plough from 5 am to 10 pm will you have the will to watch a scifi show.

 listen to some music or something
listen to things on YouTube or whatever you need
Relax and sip on some lemonade :p:p:p
:D good luck ;33

When I am depressed, I am just thinking of doing a real-life scambaiting, or JV with someone to go to Thailand to hunt the BHW-famous Tokay geckos. :)

blah blah blah blah blah....

the only way you can be depressed is from the stories you tell yourself. what is the fact? what is the story about the fact that you're telling yourself?

"i'm depressed" is just a story. emotion always comes 100% from the meaning you give things, not from the facts themselves.

I think TV screws things up for us. We watch tv and movies and think thats what life is all about. Try to not watch TV for a bit and see what happens....

Point of life can be summarized in one word: Jesus Christ

Superior thread. The numerous methods we go about dealing with.enjoying, doing, speaking or not talking- in a phrase, BEING- is an efficient reminder that we now have many decisions regardless of where we are. Good, dangerous, or indifferent, make a selection and hang on for the ride.

My question was rhetorical, to further the thinking of the following paragraphs. But you nicely pointed out some of my meaning using your own words. So it's safe to say you agree with my assessment. ;)

I have always known full well that the 85% were clueless by design. What I'm saying is it does not have to be that way. The system of poor schools, complaisant politics, that idiot box TV, and classes based on personal gain create perpetual misery with no advancement. When war and corrupt industry is force fed money to burn and education and spirituality takes a back seat to showboating and having fun, or playing child games, we suffer as a society. There are complex systems in place for entertainment and war but nothing for education. And if you want a "real" education you have to go to college... which is a business not a right.

The thing is, nobody wants to advance, we are stuck in cultural and spiritual stagnation due to comfort. The rich morons are in this Zoo of their own creation as well, because they depend on it more than the 9 to 5 schmuck does! So if even the controllers are trapped what does that mean for the rest of us?

One does not need to have the time to contemplate these things or even see it in fiction to have a longing for it... why do you think the whole world is miserable? Even complacency has an ending, every animal does not have to die in a Zoo. It's not like people must give up the pillow to get the fire back in their eyes... it's not a "get back to nature" freak fest that is needed.
