What should I do with a 17 Year Old Domain?

I finally decided to do something with this 17 year old domain that I friend gave me. He gave me a blank check and just said do anything but sell it. It is wealthnetwork,com and was registered back in 1993. Currently the site is nothing. It has been unhosted for the last 9 months and didn't even have a parked page on it. Now I have it with hostgator and loaded a wordpress blog on to it.

My question is... What should I be doing with this bad boy?

It used to be about real estate investing and sold courses and stuff like that. So it still has some links in yahoo site explorer. About 77, some seem good like a DMOZ directory link.

I was thinking about turning it into:

A) just an autoblog and loading it up with affiliate links or adwords or something along those lines

-or-

B) Making it a legit blog and actually posting about real estate and real estate investing because that's actually what I do for a living. I buy and sell about 2-3 houses a month. And just populating and backdating a bunch of posts all the way to 1993 for spider food. I'm wondering though if taking the time to actually write posts and stuff is a good plan especially in that niche because there's like 50 billion "real estate gurus" all pumping their stuff. I'm wondering if people will actually care about hearing about my deals.

TO PROMOTE IT:

I was thinking about spamming a bunch of links with scrapebox or purchasing a couple of xrummer packages from the buy sell forum here or something like that.

I'm wondering though if the sudden burst of links and such and all this content (backdated) out of nowhere will look fishy to google. I mean it's not even indexed anymore.

What do you guys think?

Don't worry about the amount of links. Google only created the sandbox to cut down on spam like websites. You have nothing to worry about. If I were you I would spam that website with 1,000,000 backlinks ASAP.

You should sell spots on a monthly basis. You could make a nice income selling links to people you place on the home page.. or start a site like digg from it.

post a couple of related articles on it, even if they are 100% copied from another site, then put some adsense, sell a nice bookon it and it will make you some nice cash/month

I'd make it a spliff between a legit blog and an autoblog, post new shit when you can and when you can't let the autoblog build. Promote, social media, nuke, etc. Throw some some cpa's or affiliate offers on and you're good. Be sure to do your keyword research as you've got a huge advantage in ranking for almost anything you like.

That's what I was concerned about. What do you think is a safe amount of links to spam a day in the beginning?

You can't say the same thing is valid for him as is for you. We don't know what exactly happened to make your website get slapped.

Well I have the same question. I have a 10 year old domain. Its currently hosted and parked.

The best thing you can do is turn it into an actual blog and discuss/post things about investing and other such things (matching the wealth theme) and sell advertising spot, with a domain that old and with such a great name it would take very little work to get a good ranking you could pull in a fair some at a fair pace if you know how to work it.

I would also be interested in buying the domain if you ever consider selling it; or I can also offer my services in setting up and managing the website where I would willingly work on a commission basis to ensure you make your profit long before I get my pay so that everything works out in your favor.

Also avoid spamming links and do not autoblog it or load it up too much with affiliates, google's slap has gotten a lot smarter and you will EASILY loose that 17 years; which is truly a holy grail here. The web marketing company I work at has done detailed tests with Google Slap and Sandbox and you would be surprised how easy it is to botch up something of such value.
