Hello guys,

When do you consider your payment provider to be warmed up? I need to be able to process 10k daily without holds on a high risk business like ecommerce.
How long does it have to exist? How much volume does it need to have processed daily on average?
Mainly asking about Stripe and PayPal

On Stripe and PayPal, you need an account at least three months old. Starting out with a turnover of 10k might not be a good idea. It is better to start with a lower one, 1-2k and gradually bring it up to 10k. I think this is a less risky way to survive. Have you considered crypto payments? There are enough gateways in this direction.

Great question! there are many variables when it comes to "warming up" with a processor. Payment processing(especially high risk) is built on relationships and trust. Performance of your merchant account is obviously the key driver that will give banks the comfort of letting you grow your business. If you got as far as going live, you have already done something right, so that is a good sign. Process clean traffic for roughly 90 days, and I am sure that banks will work with you to grow. Other things that factor in, are previous processing history, the vertical(s) you are in, working with reputable suppliers, and knowing a good broker that has the banking relationships. Banks want to make money, prove to them you can perform, do not expose them to risk or the card brands, and they will help you grow. Just my 2 cents.

Keep working with lower amounts of money in a daily basis. Slowly scale it up. Like first month you can process something like $3k. Second month you process $5k. Third month you process $10k. Starting with $10k daily out of nowhere is not organic or normal, it raises red flags for payment processors. Yes, it's boring and annoying, but it's what it is

Increase your transaction volume gradually over a period of time, which helps reduce the risk of holds or blocks.
Keep your chargeback rates low

I can't tell you exactly how to do it or how much, but I can say to focus on the payout timing. If you're allowed to receive payouts on the third business day instead of the fifth, know that your account is warmed up.

A payment provider is warmed up for eCommerce when it has a history of successful transactions, low chargebacks, and established trust with banks.

A payment provider is "warmed up" once your business has established a stable and trustworthy history of legitimate transactions and is no longer a high-risk concern. The key is to gradually scale, maintain low chargebacks, and show that your transactions are consistent and reliable.

Hi Buddy,

To warm up a payment provider for $10k daily:

Timeline
: 3–6 months.
Volume: Start with $500–$2,000 daily, increasing gradually.
Metrics: Keep chargebacks <1%, refunds <10%.
Activity: Ensure steady growth, avoid sudden spikes.
Communication: Keep the provider informed.

For my payment solutions, I warm up an account with over 100+ transactions and 3 months.

Clearly a mix of transactions that make sense for your niche or vertical you registered with Stripe or payment processor. Key is the chargeback ratio which needs to be extremely low on new accounts. Good friend of mine told me it's that + there's transaction thresholds where they manually review your account and ask you for documentation to process a certain volume per week and start scaling.

Mate, ecommerce is not a high risk business if regulations are followed.

I get it, you need a high risk MID, but you need to be open about the intent, you can PM or something, but you dont have enough posts yet.

Warming up doesnt happen just like that in finance, it is done in a way like wirecard used to do it, but it is your job to read up on that.
