Hello everyone i hope youre having a great day ! I have a question about domain names, would like to know if a domain name can be protected by a trademark if so, how can I verify it, please ? I have found some good expired domain name for less than 100 bucks. I'm afraid i might have legal problems if the domain name was registered as a trademark :(:( all help will be very useful :) thx in advance !!!! :):)

You should also consider checking the .net, .org, and .co variations of the domain. Just to see if maybe that domain was purchased during a different time frame than the others. If they’re even registered.

Check with wipo brand search and they will show worldwide trademarks.

Trademarks are only valid within a class. The same name can be trademarked by different people depending on the classes and country.

You can only Trademark a Company or its products.
Domains cannot be Trademarked.
If you use original names (in fact, you can not register a company or a product if their names are not original) it should not be a problem to register all their TDL domains.

Local authorities for brands
Europe
Wipo

Look at the active TMs, also don’t get distracted if the name exists - it also depends on the Nizza classes.
If you want to be on the safe side and plan a bigger project, take some money and let it do via lawyer.
I already lost some money due to bad research.

Best

Hello, JeromeYo317, Domain names can be registered as trademarks. As long as the domain name meets the relevant conditions for trademark registration, such as having distinctive features, being easy to recognize, and not conflicting with the legal rights acquired by others in the past, then theoretically the domain name can be registered as a trademark. It should be noted that trademark registration and domain name registration are two different legal procedures, when registering a trademark and a domain name, you need to apply for and protect them separately. To check whether a domain name has been registered as a trademark, you can check through the local market supervision department.

Usually trademark in domain is the anything before the .

So if you buy amazon.net for example you will face the same legal issues

Hi, I recommend you don't mess with domains if there is a trademark, look by geo.
