Practice Self-discipline

"All excellence involves discipline and tenacity of purpose". John W. Gardner.

Okay, some people think self-discipline is extremely difficult and meant for the super-rich. But honestly, everyone has self-discipline at a point in time. Like when you decided to go to work than spend the whole day at the beach. Or when you decided to spend the night studying rather than going to a party. And when you decided to do your laundry than watch TV. Every small piece of self-discipline counts.

The rich take it to another level, they continue these tiny steps of self-discipline day by day until it becomes second nature. They cultivate it into a habit by practicing it often. This doesn't sound easy, but it simply means that you push yourself to do the right thing at the right time.

"Tough times don't last. Tough people do" Robert H. Schuller.

Often, many people make the mistake of trying to get it right all at once. They try to swallow a whale or eat a whole elephant at once. You know that's just impossible, right? Even successful people in their journey, have made a lot of mistakes. And sometimes have chosen to do something less important instead of their plan. No one is perfect, so don't lose hope when you miss it once or twice. Keep practicing; one step at a time; whenever you can remember. and soon, you'll remember often, as it becomes second nature.

"The true success is the person who invented himself" Al Goldstein.

The thing about self-discipline is that you don't have to be a master of it to succeed. It is simply a quality that is developed by practice. Come with me and let's look at this; why do most successful people have a high level of self-esteem and dignity? Many reasons of course, but one of them is self-discipline. Anytime you self-discipline yourself to do the right thing at the right time regardless of your feelings. your sense of dignity, your self-esteem, and your self-worth increases, which is just awesome.

"Self-discipline is doing what you have to do when you have to do it, regardless of your feelings." Brian Tracy

Magnificent post.

I like that last quote in particular.

Self-discipline is the lynchpin to success. Those that don't have it are doomed to failure - unless they are fortunate, shameless and/or smart enough to live off someone else's wealth and/or work!

Driving on the left-hand side of the road in USA, is considered as road indiscipline and driving on the right-hand side of the road in Japan, is considered as road indiscipline. My thoughts on discipline and indiscipline, is that discipline and indiscipline are subjective. For example, for one nutritionist, eating breakfast is considered as a discipline for the body, whereas for another nutritionist, skipping breakfast is considered as a discipline for the body.
