Attn Indians: Stop Calling People "Dear"

"Dear" is a term of endearment.
en.dear.ment - a word or phrase expressing love or affection. (look it up)
It is used between lovers and couples.
Not people you don't know.
We dont even use it among friends like "mate" in the UK.
Here in America, all the fake scam profiles on dating sites use "Hi Dear".
So as an American, I am put on alert when someone uses this word.
I am trying to be helpful, not rude or condescending.
I am sorry you don't see or get that.
You can disagree if you want.
But please don't question my integrity.

You are failing to show respect to another culture... we are not all in the States.
On this forum we show respect to other cultures as this is as big a melting pot as one would find online.

The way I see it, by speaking up and sharing this I am being respectful.
I could just keep my mouth shut and allow people who use Dear to continue to rub some people the wrong way.
I have been on this forum 8 years and mostly keep my mouth shut.
Anyhow, just my two cents.

Respectful or disrespectful. Personally, I don't give a damn about the people who say *DEAR.* When someone who says "dear" messages me, I instantly hit the block button.

In my language calling someone unknown or a customer ''dear'' is also strange, but any adult person should know about cultural differences and that there are other languages
I never had problems with the chinese AliExpress sellers who use ''dear'' all the time...problem would be if they insulted me or said ''hi, sucker'' / ''hi, loser'' , xD
