Automatically Change Website Language Based On Visitor Country

Hi there,

I have one website which is in english language. I want to show same content/page in different language depending on country wise visitors.

How can i do this in wordpress website and will it affect SEO ?

You need to have a redirect based on the GEO location. So, for example, someone accessing from France would get redirected to website.com/fr instead of website.com. You need to get a WordPress plugin; you can check out GeoTargetingWP.

It will not hurt you SEO wise but do look for a quality plugin or just hire someone to create one for you.

The redirect will not be 100% perfect as they go by IP to see your location but it will get things done on some level.

Make sure your hreflangs are set correct.

Translate your content. If you are automatically translating, please translate smaller pieces through google rather than whole page, and look for obvious typos. Like if.sentences Are written. like this.

Redirect your site to GEO-targeting. (Most people use a pop up, that will let users choose themselves.)

Try to invest invest in correct CCTLD if you are serious about ranking.

Make sure your hreflangs are correct, and you dont have duplicate content by using tons of "checkers" that are for free, if you dont have a paid tool. Good luck

one more thing i wanted to ask if i wanted to change CTA button depending on Geo then how can i do this ?

For eg if someone coming from France then they will redirect to website.com/fr & with this my CTA button should also change.

you can use any short url service provider with geo targetting, quick google search shows short.io supports it. there must be some alternatives as well

Actually content i know it will change i am more concerned about my CTA link. Will it change my website CTA too ? for eg for France product CTA link is different and for USA its different. So i want to out CTA link depending on country wise.

No actually i have different CTA link for different countries for same product like xyz.com - this page has abc.com CTA link for USA location and same page i want to give CTA link yuz.com for France location.

A small suggestion here - Don’t redirect based on the ip, redirect based on browser’s locale (you are doing it for language, afterall). In my opinion, that’s much easier to do than having to pay for ip db and bla.

If you have translated your site, yes you can change your internal links. Most apps supports this, and I would just use 10 minutes of your time to check out dozens of translating app - and check their features. Good luck.

i have seen some competitors redirecting their website according to country wise. But after redirecting CTA link ( affiliate link can i able to change manually or not i am not sure about this )

Not too sure about an automatic switcher
but there are plugins that does the same switch
