Will Telegram taking 1st place over whatsapp?

Plus points - it’s decent - I like the look and feel of it much more than WhatsApp (which I am also a big fan of btw).

Neg points - on WhatsApp 90% of my contacts have an account, on telegram it’s about 5%.

I agree with some comments above. Telegram is really gaining traction now and I think the groups are better than whatsapp.

Never used WhatsApp. Telegram is king. Hoping for it to get more popula

Yes seems to Telegram got to increase the share but still whatsapp ruling as it has more user base. Lets see how it would change.

While you can't trust any app, and it's absolutely not about countries where was developed or political motives.
— It's about the fact that you don't know the app developer personally ;)

If we talk about the ranks - in my opinion, Telegram will 100% become No.1 worldwide.

It is very comfortable, has channels and groups, good deletion functionality etc.

Here, of course, comes the question of monetization. Pavel Durov was already billionaire with his previous product (Vkontakte in Russia, which was bought away by state oligarchs). That means he had money and resources to keep the servers running without necessarily selling the data to third parties or cooperating with "KGB". BTW. He also fled Russia because he did not share the government's opinion.

Unlike Suckerberg, who can sell your data anywhere and cooperates with American Secret Service. (Well, what people won't do for the money).

No ! whatsapp is best so far , telegram got so mush time for updating and sometime got few minutes for daily update :p

Whatsapp still got some first mover advantage but they're quickly dropping too far behind.

Telegram is better in every way. Matter of time til most people switch IMO

Most of the members expressing same opinion but whats app has the more user base which is hard to break it.

telegram is more free, but it is more difficult to handle for a normal person, whatsapp is here to stay just like instagram.

hahahhahahahahah your level of troll is amazing

Yea whatsapp got the first mover advantage and it's ok for most purposes.

I had to deal with some urgent issues recently and everyone is using whatsapp. So long way to go for telegram.

Its easy to break since everyone can be easily communicated to install telegram

Telegram have many cool features but whatsapp is very user friendly so anyone can start using without learning much its the main reason for whatsapp penetration but whatsapp did not bring any features to group for long time

When there are more advantages in platform ppl move quickly, I see there is a huge advantage for telegram - the public group, channels with more contents and members will surely attract large base.

as far i know, whatsup still strong on my country (BR)

Yah, but the problem is
Marketing and exposure, which telegram does not have anywhere even close to whatsapp/fb messenger
There are countries that have Whatsapp sponsored/affiliates with their country-based phone lines.
While some countries may take Mobile Data for granted, others are very restricted based on their chosen plans.
Some countries makes WhatsApp "free of use" inside their plans; which means, WhatsApp does not uses any Data on usage and calls.

If Telegram wants to step up, they need to start thinking ahead, whatsapp is very grounded in alot of places. It's not going to be easy just cuz suckerberg is a fucktard and made some questionable changes.

Right buddy telegram is not taking much effort on marketing

Some countries even blocks whatsapp to avoid business loss to mobile operators

whatsapp and fb have huge "data" required for business/govt

with this its negotiating directly/indirectly with govt, business and ready to share private info with them, but telegram hesistate to do this.

Tech companies are heavily influenced by Govt/Polictical policy

Telegram need more business centric features to stay on top
