Namecheap vs. IONOS?

Definitely namecheap. Keep in mind their support is literally available 24/7 throughout the year. But if you exceed (rapidly) some resources (like SQL in my case), you may be temporarily suspended which sucks. Other than that, I have 16 websites on a Stellar Plus hosting with significant traffic.

I use namecheap for some of my domains. Been using Porkbun recently, had some good deals on .com domains too that might still be going on for about $4

Am in the same situation as OP. Thinking about migrating to Naecheap but I heard some horrible things like slow websites and that it doesn't work well with Nulled themes and plugins.
Do you have any experience with that?

Maybe if you start getting a good amount of traffic and use too much resource then they might suspend the plan. This happens all the time with shared hosting providers.

well this sucks! May I know what "good amount of traffic" means? 1,000 visitors a day? A week? A month? I need to know what to expect

1,000 visitors a day is nothing if spread over 24 hours. It completely depends on the load on the resources. For e.g., a movie streaming site is resource hungry, and even for small visitors in a short time, it will consume a lot of resources. Most of the services will inform you if you consume too much resource before suspending. For multiple small WP sites, shared hosting is okay. It completely depends on case to case basis.

I don't have movie streaming sites, only some content blogs. So I guess I'll be safe even with 1000 visitors / day.. Thanks!

IONOS is a bad company, they change the name from 1and1.com to ionos.com to scam people for their service. I lost 1 domain on them, they steal my domain without allow to extend.

I had a domain with 1and1 and they kept renewing the domain again and again and showed a negative balance in the account.

I tried Ionos last year, but I was not satisfied with the performance, so I gave up and asked for a refund.

However I am not satisfied with their server response time, especially for the mobile view, and switched to another web host recently. The page load time has decreased dramatically though

My SQL DB exceeded 120MBs in size, and I was suspended

Yup. I use nulled themes and plugins. As long as they don't contain malicious code that triggers the malware detection on NC's servers, you will be fine. In terms of 'slow', just use a CDN if you are expecting ~50k+ daily visits (that's what I do)

Namecheap, got a load of domains and hosting from them for many years. Their support is unbeaten!

I just signed up with Namecheap. Looks good so far but I won't be depending on it. Also picked up a VERY cheap yearly VPN.

I switched to WPX hosting. However I transferred over only 1 website to test waters so to speak.

Namecheap is more reputable, but the past year i used IONOS because there rates are affordable and i have not had much problems with them.

I prefer ionos. Never had any issues with them.
