Ask me anything about Facebook Ads 2020

I have an affiliate blog. The product is somewhat seasonal and during a particular point of the year, the conversion rates are high. So I am planning to run ads during that period. I have two questions:

1. Should I install Pixel now, will that help me target my audience when I start to advertise my posts in FB? (Considering my season is 5-6 months away)
2. If I am aiming for clicks from the last week of the month, should I start advertising even before that for better accuracy, like 2-3 weeks before?

Hey,

I have a long post, but stick with me, as I have only one question for now :)

This is something I've seen many people wonder about but I've never found the answer. When starting a new campaign, whether you're targeting LAL audience or cold broad audience, what usually happens is that on the first few days campaign performs really well, and then between 3rd and 5th day it just completely dies off. The campaign in question is purchase conversion one.
And I've seen the same happening over and over again over the past few months. I've seen ROAS on the first day starting at high as 12 and then finishing at 2-3 after few days.

Recently, I've tested broad audience of around 600k people (this is pretty broad for my country as it has nearly 1.6 mil Facebook users overall) with 10€ daily budget. It started performing really well, but on day 4 it practically died out (daily CTR was literally cut in half on day 4 and CPC jumped from 0.17€ to 0.41€).
Since I've noticed that Facebook mostly showed my ad to male audience, I decided to split the audience based on gender and broaden it up a little bit (up to 800k people). I've placed CBO budget of 20€. This time different thing happened - over the first 3 days, daily CTR rose from 0.73 to 1.55% while ROAS from 2.88 to 4.16. And then on day 4 daily CTR again dropped from 1.55 to 0.52% with 0 purchases.
I've killed the campaign for 2 reasons:
  • I've seen this scenario more than a dozen times over the past few months. And it's always the same - daily CTR suddenly drops, and there are no purchases anymore.
  • Overall ROAS was just 3.46 which is not profitable for my business

So I've noticed the following - my frequency was already at around 1.6-1.7 for this audience, even though it is pretty broad and I've spent only 90€ on it. Cumulative frequency, taking into the consideration the previously mentioned audience of 600k, was 1.95.

I've read in several groups if frequency rises so quickly in such a broad audience, the problem was with low budget. Facebook simply doesn't have enough budget to bid on a more qualified audience and you end up recycling only a chunk of that 800k audience, resulting in ad fatigue and ROAS dropping off. Keep in mind I'm using lowest cast optimization.

So I've said - let's do one more final test. I've decided to switch off audience separated by gender and just show ad to the whole audience of 800k. I also did one more tweak - I've excluded past engagers, visitors and customers from the audience. This lowered my total audience by maybe 10k. My daily budget was 24€ for this one.
First day (yesterday) it performed really well. Although CTR was incredibly low, and CPC extremly high, the day ended with 4 purchases and ROAS of 8.14. Probably the best daily ROAS I've seen in a while when atleast 2 purchases happened. Daily Cost per 1000 people reached was also pretty low compared to the previous campaigns I've tested on this audience (1.8€ compared to the average of 2.8€).

My explanation for this results are following:
  • 600k audience couldn't perform well for a longer period as the daily budget was only 10€ and Facebook didn't have enough money to bid for a more qualified audience
  • Gender-splitted audience, even though it ran on 20€ daily budget, couldn't perform well for a longer period, since Facebook allocated around 12€ to the male gender and 8€ to the female gender, which again made the budget too low for Facebook to bid for a more qualified audience
  • 800k audience (which overlaps 100% with 600k audience mentioned in the first dot) performed really well because Facebook had 24€ to bid on a more qualified audience. Low daily Cost per 1000 people reached could be a proof of that. Facebook had a budget to bid for a more qualified audience that wasn't available in the previous 2 tests, which resulted in 4 purchases at 8.14 ROAS even though CTR was low and CPC was high.

This conclusion is based on a presumption that higher daily budget unlocks more qualified audience. Simply put - If you spend 5€ a day for 30 days (150€ in total) you would reach much lower percentage of the total audience than if you'd spend 150€ over the 5 days with a daily budget of 30€.
Is this true and could this explain why good performing campaigns usually die off within few days?

Thank you for your answer!

How to promote crypto-related ads on Facebook in 2020? without getting your account banned.

Thanks.

Hello! I know that traffic from fb applications is working really good for adult dating offers. Do you have any thoughts how can it work for gambling CPL?

I run 2 fb accs. My BMs are banned. Can't make a new one now. So whenevr I am creating new fb accounts. They are getting banned. Try different devices and ips as well. I am stucked with ads. What to do now?

Thank you for responding! Sorry for the very broad question.

I'm essentially running local lead generation sites and aiming to rank them organically for certain keywords and then turning around and selling those leads to businesses within that location.

I thought at some point down the line it might be fun to dabble with FB ads and create a landing page to capture people within the same niche after I already have an established buyer for my leads.

So to be super specific lets say I targeted lawn mowing in Los angeles.

After some keyword research I'd then get it to rank and start getting organic visitors. Eventually Id make a deal with a local lawn mowing company to sell the leads to them. Then after I'm considering targeting people on FB who would be interested in the same service but who were also located in Los Angeles.

Only problem with this is that I can't think how it would work too well for sense of urgency related businesses and how that could translate well to facebook ads. For example ot would be great to rank an organic term like, "emergency plumber in los angeles" if plumbing was my niche but it would be hard to translate that (at least I think it would be hard) to a converting FB ad.

So I guess I could have summarized this by asking what is the best way, if there is one, to target sense of urgency based services like that on FB ads?
Initially, it is forbidden to advertise any services on facebook since September 2019 (you can read it in facebook help). To do this, it is necessary to use the cloaking method, as the probability of the ban is too high. Of course, the algorithms may behave differently, but this does not exclude the point that sooner or later the lock will come. If you answer the question, you need to parse the audience where possible or buy a base from the company to make a look-a-like. You can try detailed targeting to create ads for both plumbers and lawn mowers.
I opened new ad account, But i can't set manual payments like before, I have only automatic payment with threshold.

And also my ads not running because of threshold, Because it is "You won't receive a bill while your balance is $0.00" and when i set $500 threshold, It's still $0.00 not changed.
Billing will appear in ad account payment options after your campaign is approved and started. Manual payment also will be available after campaign is launched and recieve first results
Best detail targeting for reaching homeowners
There is no certain targeting for any group of users before testing - only tests can help to find the best targeting options. 2 tools can help:
1) Facebook Audience Insights. Good tool on Facebook which can give you some tips about possible target audience
2) Common sence. For homeowners definitely should be tested: MW 30+, Married, with Chidren, income is higher than average, interests can be mixed based on a common understanding of people who own a house.
Test a lot and you will find the best targeting options for your audience

Can I successfully use Facebook AD to market my Amazon Affiliate Sites, to earn great?

Whats is the perfect way for warming up hacked and pva accounts? I sell a adult product, and the real problem is i cant share pixel from the main BM (which dont have ad accounts for safety) to others BM’s, i ran some page likes campaigns, but still pixel share is blocked, without the pixel I dont have optimization, also how can i increase BM ad accounts limits?
You have to warm-up the account, run traffic on WH, use the cloaking services. If you get banned quickly, then problem lies with your approach. What products are you working with?

Yes, you may set-up a pixel now - to start gathering the audience so you could make a look-a-like audience. The optimization is set in campaign settings. You may set it up for 1 or 7 days.
How to promote crypto-related ads on Facebook in 2020? without getting your account banned.

Thanks.
The account will get banned anyways, since crypto is not allowed by FB (despite the fact that it's allowed by FB rules). Currently literally everything could get banned by FB. Use the cloaking services to expand the lifetime of your account.
can we make free add on page?
Yes, develop your page so you can gather the audience, As soon it happens, you may start promoting your products

Do you use a unique hardware (PC) for each cases? Or it is the same in each cases? What domains do you use? What creatives? Do you make them unique and new?

Thanks buddy, I will start working on the Pixel settings soon.

Last 30 days i have spent $12k on advertising, and my ads look dying right now, I tried to promote new product same niche but when in ad targeting the audience that i selected for new campaign had decreased from 10 millions to 30k-100k
I think all happened because of facebook don't want ads target to same people

Happened to all audiences i targeted for first product

How do i reset the audience without tick on expand audience box?

Do FB ads work for web hosting companies? Would the spend be massive in order or moderate in order to actually achieve some results? Thanks

Hey buddy! First of all thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, I do have three questions and will appreciate your response.

Okay so let's say (For example), that I sell specific product for a pet :

1) If I scrape 100k E-mails from FB Group, can I upload it as Custom Audience and then target those people?

2) Does targeting specific people by E-mails is cheaper? For example, how much would it cost me to show my ad to those 100k people (Reach campain), they are all located in United States.

Thanks in advance!

What's the best way to go about learning fb ads. I have watched a ton of YouTube videos (that mostly just end with gurus pushing their courses) and read alot of stuff online. I just can't get anything to stick. I spent a few Hundred dollars running campaigns all to little to no success. I really want to learn but I'm Running out of money to do so.

The easiest way is collect the audience through other Ad Networks, for example use google search with your specific brand/title collect audience and then use it in facebook/google to scale up the things.

Thanks for sharing. I don't understand what this means. Suppose I have an audience in Google Ads. How exactly do I use the same audience in Facebook Ads?

FB ads works for web hosting companies - just need to test different approaches and find your audience, who can buy your service.

The more you spend from 1 account the more facebook let you spend in the future. But spendings dont really influence your results, more important to test your creatives, landing pages, audiences and budgets. This is what can really influence your results on Facebook

Email targeting helps you to find your target audience on Facebook easier. FB sees common parameters for that group of people with emails, so it shows your ads to similar users on Facebook (with common interests, geos, behaviour etc). So it will help you to receive results from ads faster with a lower price. But email targeting is only a small part of decreasing advertising cost. Only one thing can help you to find the better advertising price - Testing. To test your ads you can follow through a testing funnel: creatives - landing page - audience - budget. Every of this step can be tested with 20-25$. Every step should be tested sequentially. After lots of tests you will determine best converting creatives, landings, audiences and budgets for your specific product which bring you sales at a lowest price

Best way to learn is to dive deeper into different parts of Facebook advertising:

1. Download or buy courses from experienced guru of affiliate marketing, who has real practical experience. Only guys who sells themselves can give you really valuable advices

2. Read cases. Affiliates cases are really important for knowing range of approaches on facebook nowadays

3. One of the most efficient methods of learning is to get a job in a team of affiliates (there are many offers of remote jobs as well). When you are a team member, you always learn faster than when you are a solo affiliate

4. Do practice. You’ve spent some money already, but dont stop to learn by practice - it is the most efficient approach to facebook advertising

Download your audience from google ads and upload it to the ads manager

Thank you so much for your response, I really appreciate that!

Last question, can you give estimated cost how much would it cost to target 1,000,000 people in the US with Reach or Brand awareness only, however, I bring the 1,000,000 E.mails my self and do custom audience.

The reason I ask is because Brand awareness and Reach supposed to be much cheaper compared to Conversion and since I have the ability to scrape E.mails from Instagram Pages Followers/ FB groups/ FB Fan pages I think it can be a huge success but really curious about the estimated cost to show my ad to 1,000,000 people in US, both genders, 18-65 years old.

Does 2k$ is realistic with Reach campaign only when I bring the E.mails to Facebook?

Thanks again buddy!!
