Greetings dear members of BlackHatWorld,

this is my Journy thread on the topic "SMS Sending".
In the following lines I'm going to list my expenses, average cost of sending, plans of monetization and much more.. It might be a long read for some as I tried to go as in-depth as possible. If there are any questions left, feel free to reply to this thread and I may, without giving away my whole setup and tricks, be able to help you with the matter! :)

I finally found the motiviation to do such journey thread, so here we go:

Basic requisites and current technical situation:
The base set-up of my SMS sending cost about $120 (excluded scripts as I coded them myselves); now, after the base costs, the average SMS will cost me about $0.003 or $3/k SMS.
At first, this sounds fantastic, though there are some flaws:
- From a coding point of view, I wasn't able to (yet) expand my messages above the 160 character limit. I've read some good documentations on how to implement 153 characters chunk breaking, but for now the limit is 160 characters.
- Another coding problematic: I haven't added anything standard GSM-7 text (some documentations if anyone wants to take a look: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GSM_03.38)
- Last but not least, there is no possibility to broadly send links in my SMS. I'm working with spintax to prevent spam detections and for now I've successfully managed to have a 100% delivery rate to iOS (except of invalid numbers obviously, but that's a matter of lead generation); to anything besides I noticed my links getting severely detected and thus the whole SMS not being delivered (tested on couple of Android-OS based devices). -> The best way is not to use any links, but to funnel them away from the SMS.

That's that - now to lead generation: What's my plan?
Not to spoiler anything, but I got a full sorted high qualitive database with over 70 data entries per user (database contains over 19 million people; international) - some "important entries" would be e.g. marritial status, age, children, race/ethnicity, household income and so on..

Final part: Monetizing the leads.
That's the part I'm struggling with right now. I don't have the best ideas on which platform to use as well as the whole traffic funnel setup.
I'm sure that I primarily try to guide them away from SMS to e.g. mail a social media account (e.g. Instagram, Facebook group, etc.) - though how shall I convince them "naturally" to leave their comfort zone from a SMS to go to e.g. sending me a mail or joining anything? How could I compose this message in a short matter of character? Which traffic network should I use? These are all left-opened questions I need to figure out myself!
I also thought about opening a JV on here to find someone with the necessary resources - advertising-wise, but for now I rather take a look myself.

"Financial overview":
Costs: $119.38
Revenue: $none
Profit: -$119.38

I'll keep you updated about new campaigns, ideas and problems so make sure to check on this thread regularily!

Interesting with an SMS journey, we don't see that too often here. Definitely following.

As far as monetizing, I would probably try Clickbank or CPA offers to start with. My 2 cents.

Thanks for your input!
Sure, but I somehow feel that spamming a "plain offer" is a kind of wasting this precious traffic - especially with my link restriction.. In my opinion, shifting the audience to a long-term "money cow" would be the best, e.g. a mailing list (though there are many flaws with this approach as well). Anyhow, thanks for your statement!

Interesting! You mentioned database international so are you going to send sms to International number also? The cost of per sms looks very cheap, i wonder how you have achieved this.

That's the average cost - campaigns may differ due to many reasons (some of which are not controllable by me), but for now that's the average cost per thousand SMS.
Yes, the database I mentioned is international, but I prefer sending to US numbers at first and afterwards I might expand to international campaigns. Start small, they say. Moreover, about 13-14 million rows are by US citiziens, thus I got the "biggest data" to narrow down. I can select pretty specific groups to send to, one example:
"45-55 years, Male, Single, Income over $75,000" (I tested those filters as I originally thought about sending Adult offers) and pick those based in e.g. California. Too precise filters will leave me with only a "few" thousands leads left, but I rather have a sharp precise campaign than a spammy broad campaign.

In term of monetizing I would suggest check offers related to current trending topics like Covid, work from home etc.

Great inspiration! Thanks a lot.
... so target preferably 30-45 year old (gender-neutral) people with an average income of below $50,000 in risky niches? With a "quick" message like: "You've been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic crisis? Shoot me an e-mail as I'm trying to help people in need: [email protected]"

Your main problem will probably be targetting. So see how you can improve on that with your database.
Exactly! That's why I'm happy with the in-depth available data I got.
I can "make" my custom lead lists and play with one thousand SMS each, test how they interact with the content sent, etc.

Hello,
Nice journey,
You can check this thread to get some info : [AMA] SMS Marketing & RoboCalling
Thanks for your reply!
As far as I've looked through your thread, most of your "replies" answer questions I've already figured kind of out.. My remaining problem is the monetization (and how to approach them).
In my opinion, I got a fairly stable lead "mine" as well as SMS setup :)

I didn't even know phone companies filtered for spam. Thats interesting.

I'm interested to see the rate at which you can get them off of sms and onto your site/offer.

Do affiliate marketing with cc submits. Find the blank checkouts, and put whatever you'd like in front. Could be a goldmine with your data.
PM me if you need assistance or have any questions regarding this

You really should have multiple campaigns going for multiple geo and demographic segments.

Split them down into location and age then tailor your offer accordingly.

There will be plenty of offers to match each demographic.

For instance a health or skincare offer might be fine for someone over 30 in USA but not so much for someone over 30 in a less affluent country.

I'd probably look for life time rev share offers for the tier 1 countries if you go the offer route.

Failing that create something universally popular yourself and lock it with a content locker.

Also if you go the something you make yourself route test a personal message to a wrong number.

For example:

Hey John here's the link to that free $100 a day ebook I told you about. Grab a copy quick it's getting pulled soon.

I'm doing about dropshipping, can you send me documents so I can find out about these things?
Getting clients in specific countries.
Scrapping phone numbers depending on the client's niche.
Sending SMS via SIM cards & Grey routes OR installing a RoboCall system depends on the client's needs.

Don't know if it seems nooby, but after reading this, an idea just jumped and wanted to share it with you.
Try create a website or product or anything, the keyword must be unique for example "DBTR hair" or "FPZ banking" anything unique depend on the way you montize, then try to index your website based on those keywords. Send sms and ask them to google that keyword.
Got it right?
