Is Ranking a Site Worthless with All the Google Updates?

You start a site with 50 articles of 2k words and start getting traffic, but then a Google Update happens and you lose most of your traffic. So you pretty much wasted all your time for nothing.

How do people deal with the Google Updates in order to keep their traffic?

How often are these updates?
Is there a way to avoid losing most of your traffic with a Google Update?

Is SEO a waste of time? I am talking white hat SEO.

I think Google is worrying less about your off-page, & steering towards the importance of your on-page SEO, and awarding based off your relevancy, bounce rate, etc.. So another way to put it. What you rank needs to actually provide benefits/interest.

Are you seriously telling me stock photo websites are better authorities then someone doing a website on a specific topic and has a social media presence?
Google is a POS. If you follow their guidelines they fuck you over with these updates but if you go blackhat and if they catch you, you're still fucked.

Same with my website. The last couple of updates have been fucking my traffic really bad. I was hitting around 500 visitors a day at my websites peak back in January and then google kept on rolling out updates every month and my traffic hasn't had enough time to recover yet.

SEO is not time waste. Its a strategy to build infra for your website ranking and apporach.

The ranking depends the way you do it, and on-page is critical part out of all of them.

So don't lose hope and build strong structure on-page and off-pafe both parallely.

You can think about your question more philosophically.
What would you do, if you were not working on your website? Playing games? Wasting time on social media? Lying in bed watching some Netflix series that only make you more stupid and sheepish?

You certainly learned a lot while working on your website. You improved your writing skills, maybe also build something of quality and value (for the few users who actually found your site before it tanked)....
And surely you will benefit from all this in your next project (be it SEO or something different).

You have to adhere to long term vision of Google if you want to remain in the SEO game in the long run. A big google update can destroy all your traffic. But Google vision in the long run is Content Organisation. If you adhere to this sentence you will be able to build backlinks based on this strategy and would not suffer that much loss. Thanks

In my opinion, the biggest factor when it comes to ranking high and most importantly, maintaining the position, is content. You can't maintain your no. 1 position in SERPs for long periods of time if your readers don't even stay on-page for a full minute. At least that's what I've experienced. Every single Google update has pushed my rankings up, even though I almost don't do any link building.

Year by year, new updates came, many websites got left behind - We managed to go through it and find ways to recover.
In this situation, no backlink can help you. The only thing you can do is: Optimize your website's speed and On-Page SEO.
