How to reduce my website Spam Score?

Hello,

I have a blog that it's around 10 months old. I've been working on it's SEO for a few months now.

That been said, i noticed with MOZ tool that the spam score of my website is 22% when i looked up the backlinks of my domain, i found out that it has many Chinese backlinks who's spam score is really high. (i already uploaded a disavow file)

I'm guessing the previous owner of my domain name did some black hat SEO. Now i have to clean up his mess. So I would like to know if there is a way to level the spam score of my website.

What can i do to fix this problem? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Throw it away. Dont waste time trying to polish a shit.

Just class it as a learning curve, let the site sit for a while if you really want to to see how rankings hold up. But its an uphill struggle.

I've worked so hard on the website, spent months developing the site and writing content on it. Isn't there any other alternative?

Maybe contact webmasters of the sites the links are coming from? Get them to remove if at all possible.
I highly doubt they would respond to you.
Many sites have a shitty spam score. Worry about your rankings more. If your still ranking, keep going. If your rankings are tanking. Put it to the side and just watch it over some months. That's what I would do... You have done all you can from the google side of things.

I already hired someone to get in touch with them. But like you said, i don't think they'll respond, most of them are those free blogs (like blogpost) that are left for dead from 10 years ago.

I'm not blacklisted i think by google, because i show up in Google SERP, i made some great articles, far better than my competitors with well researched keywords i believe, but i seem to be always near the end of the 8th page of Google. But I'm actively patient.

As you said, these things will take months to take effect. If for some reason i can't delete those backlinks, do you think adding new good backlinks will reduce my spam score? Will it change the balance? (like more good backlinks will they overshadow the bad ones)?

The only option in this case of you want to continue with the site is to make a number of good links for the website. It will balance out the bad links.

The mistake i did first when i was buying the domain name was that i didn't check its backlinks.
I was naive at first and I had duplicate content before when i was starting, but i hired some writers to rewrite the copied articles and verified with "Copyscape", i only write fresh content now and I'm proud of it, i should of done that since the beginning.

Literally the same thing happened to me, a site that I worked quite hard for had some shitty links sent to it and I didn't realize that until I check the SS.

I uploaded the disavow file to Google a week ago but they do take quite a while to actually remove those links.

If i may ask, during that first year on which you did some good guest post. Approximately, how many backlinks did you add? (I'm asking this because I'm also considering the option to do some guest blogging on other sites aswell)

Trust me for my client niche it was a really tough call as it was Education website (sorry can't reveal domain), The site was in bad condition when I started working and the earlier team just spoiled it.

Find relevant links was a very messy and the toughest part for that site as in India very least Edu, Gov or proper universities publish a guest post.

I created around 3-5 guest post a month, found relevant sites and contacted them. Also had to contact some brokers who also does the job having great list.

But we get a benefit when I strategize some unique content and started getting natural links from universities and institutes itself. That helped me a lot.

As per your niche you need to dig, just don't forget the traffic country source.

Not exactly, Maybe you are right for a specific niche or a specific type of business.

But content site sees the effect of Spam Score very easily.

I have seen 2 sites starting in the same month, the same level of SEO started (different IP, etc everything)

But the one with higher Spam score domain - Its link didn't get indexed that easily and the one with ZERO spam score links get indexed faster.

Possible I am wrong, as it truly depends on industry to industry but it's considered in many of the cases.

MOZ has a well known reputation and I don't think when its DA and PA is considered why will google ignore its Spam score just like that?

Check this buddy! You are safe until google finds out about that link. Take a look inside your google webmaster tools whether that link is found by google or not. If they have then only you move forward to disavow that link, or else you carry on doing natural linking.

This Spam Score has really been a big debate but still, no one has got a proper answer to it. Try to build more quality links. Make a balance. Just make sure that whether your link building tactics pass the human test or not.
