[How to] Check backlinks for free - NO software needed

So I just saw a question on how to check if a backlink is still active on a certain page. So the free options are :

• Use the FREE scrapebox link checker and install it. Easy to use just read the page here: http://www.scrapebox.com/free-link-checker
• No software version
  • Let's just use Google sheets if you do not want to install Scrapebox or another software
  • Make a copy of the sheet click HERE
  • Now in column A put the page where the link should be located
  • in Column B now input the exact link you are looking for
  • In Column C you will then get the reply of Yes or No
  • Copy the formula in Cell C down when adding more links

Example

This will update whenever you open the sheet.

This is just a quick and very simple FREE solution. Here some ideas if you want to expand

• Look into a script to send you the results by email
• Set a time-driven trigger and then run that script once a day, so you get daily updates

May I ask - did you write the formula yourself? If so, are these just excel formulas and conditions that you've used? Always wanted to learn, but never found time - maybe it's finally time

Google importxml and xpath and you can do these yourself. Lots of good Tutorials etc. To get started
