I have no idea how I ended up here (stream stopped working?) but it's pretty much exactly what I've been looking for.

I've seen a lot of stuff here I have some idea about - I've been buying bitcoins since 2011, worked as a stock market analyst, had to do my own marketing when I had a business working as a bodybuilding/nutrition coach and some other random stuff.

Now? Now I'm a painter with a miserable Instagram account. I've been here for an hour and I've already read a dozen threads about how I can sell my art without giving 60% commission to the galleries while creating a good following and a brand. Oh yes, I'm also a retired graffiti artist. Why would I ever want to deal with "High Art"?

With your help, I am hoping I can find ways to circumnavigate the traditional art market and how they sell my/our work.

I want to be in full control when I sell my work but

Yeah but I've been rather flirting with the idea of actually making my own high-end gear brand from top quality material, for polish rappers (don't ask) or something along those lines. There's always market for expensive, top-notch quality hoodies or wifebeaters etc. and I see the potential to make money that way rather than lower ROI ventures.

Hope that makes sense.

But yeah I totally get where you're coming from and it works 100% but I paint oil on canvas and it's really a full time job at this point. I don't think I would have the energy or the time to make prints.

That said, I would totally make printouts and maybe sell my art or create pieces for specific niche merch. It's part of creating brand identity I guess, which is pretty much my goal at the moment.

Hmm.. how would I put it.

I've been listening to Polish rap since before I was a teenager, so like 20 years. I've seen the scene expand and the old dogs have created their own brands based on their style - they sell top-notch merch for a good buck using their status and fanbase. Each rapper or crew have a specific demographic - mostly hardcore this hardcore that (excons, criminals, street life, drugs, fighting) so the scene is very mature with most of the followers in their 30's/40's now - like me - who have money to spend and still stick to their roots.

You take a rapper, listen to what he has to say through his work, understand him and his followers and you have a great baseline of what kind of art-piece would suit a hoodie design these people would wear.

1) You get a commission for sales (or whatever your deal would be).
2) You get free exposure.

Same can be done with album covers.
