Ranking is Dead in Google

If it is any inspiration to you, 2 years ago I was mowing lawns for $12 an hour. Now I make a very good living online. Didn't come over night, but it was more about dedication, and hard work than anything.

You can't learn all this shit overnight. The best advice I can give is, pick one aspect of marketing, and learn it, and learn it well. Once you feel that you have a good grasp on it, move on to another aspect. Once you have a foundation, build off of it. Too many people get all wound up in a million things, and that is just a recipe for disaster.

I deal with so many people who are simply overwhelmed by the massive amount of information there is about marketing online, but really when it boils down to it, most of this stuff is pretty basic.

As far as learning, there this forum is a great place to start. Lots of very intelligent savy marketers here. You might also like the WF forum. Very white hat but also a very good forum.

Hi,whats the url of the WF Forum please?

could this trigger a "url market collapse" for keyword urls that become less valuable... then we could grab them for cheap and adapt, then win!

This is not new news. Google has been emphasizing more geo specific searches for a while now, and they are putting much more of an emphasis on it. To me this just opens a whole new aspect of SEO I can make money with.

Internet marketing is all about adapting. If you can't adapt, go get a job at Walmart.

Well put. Try and think like Google for a moment, what are they trying to do, ultimately? Give people the most relevant search results. It seems like they're trying to personalize it a bit now.

This will make SEO more difficult for some, no doubt, and to those who toss up their hands and proclaim "I give up!", good riddance. In doing so, their failure to approach this new-found opportunity for what it is shall be made emphatically apparent.

As always, the more progressive, creative, forward-thinking among us will probably have a little less competition.

Gosh...

I will pity all the SEO experts. Imagine... they spent so much time learning about Google and its algorithm and suddenly it becomes worthless. No companies or rather no one will consult them for their SEO services anymore since it becomes worthless.

I believe this is Google's goal to make more income from Adwords, don't you think? ;)
Everyone will be fighting for a keyword causing prices to soar~

I guess we have to move on and learn the next new trend.

i thought G might change things last year....so many people are now exploiting backlinks to get high SE positions. I had a feeling they eould try to combat this....WTF are all those SEO compnaies going to do? What about all the software, outsourcing etc?

so doe sthat mean all this link building software is of no use?

If that's real, Google Tools, especially Analytics is the spying and data collecting agents. I love it and hate it the same time.

Have to agree, G is going to force you to use Adwords if you want to have a decent chance of hitting your target market, smart on their part.

That mean, more and more peoples will go for adwords.

there is a lot of mixed reviews here, I tend to agree with the guys that state "simply adapt" I think this is the best way to put it. Google won't just change over night and suddenly drop sites without video. I know this was a crude analogy by Bruce Clay, but still, come on it's never going to be THAT blatant. Besides, just chucking up a few scrapper video sites myself so HAHAHA! ;)

It's all a fascinating subject, however the progression and development is on going - Googles primary concern should and will be Twitter at the moment, live real time trend searches. I know they could snap Twitter up, but still I've found Twitter results much more useful than Google on many occasions.

Interesting times ahead.

Big G is smart, but there is a lot of smart people on this end as well.

As long as Google uses bots to sort data (which they have to), then smart people all over the world will study and find ways to manipulate those bots.

SEO might be hampered, but those on the inside will ultimately find ways to trick the system.

Bruce Clay makes big dollars as a SEO consultant etc and is judged on rankings achieved. It makes sense for his business that he would be downplaying ranking importance.

Basically Google is saying, '' I'll see your SEO and raise with ADWORDS ''
Thank you google for sparking more thought into online marketing without paying for adwords. It's a challenge...but with great challenge and great effort come great reward.

Anyone could had told you google is going to based its search results more on user experience and that they are making changes in the near future. So i don't see how this is shocking to most.

I just wanted to add that a major change in Google's ranking system would be the most wonderful thing I could imagine happening in the near future!

The reason for this is very simple - right now every dimwit and their mother knows how to do basic SEO and this makes all of us over here work harder and harder, having to compete with all of them. (Even though we usually do it better than them, it's still frustrating)

Now, after a major change, it will take quite a while until the 'new tactics' become mainstream - giving those who are capable of exploiting the new system (and there's NO code in this world that can't be broken) a MAJOR advantage.

Oh, and for some reason I think that once this change happens, "How I Got A 23.45% CTR From Adwords Paying $0.05 Per Click"-type ebooks will start selling like hot cakes on DP :P (better put the first 15 together right now!)

Exactly my point.

Google is all about giving the best and most relevant content to its users. That's how they keep people using their search engine.

The funny thing is Google is always talking about it all the time which is why I find it odd that people find news like this shocking. Google pretty much gives you a backdoor entrance for anything. All you have to do is listen to them and watch what they are doing. Then make the changes to your own business to adapt.

It's so simple, but so many people don't do it.

Bring it on G, bring it on.... rich pricks! Bring it on, we will learn your new tricks, and we will burry you again and again, over and over.... "Radical Implementation" my @ss! what kind of crap is this...who do they think they are, eh? :-) Ok, so we have to work harder, or say smarter...... we can't beat them, so join them, get them..... never give up. we all stick together, and we will be just fine......

Ahhhhhhhhhhh now i understand why CHROME came out!!!!!!!!

I think it means watch your bounce rate. Unless they bounce right into your absence links then I bet your bounce rate is not so important.

I have a site that is complete crap and they come in and go out through my adsense quickly and Google loves it.

ad something that makes them want to say for a bit like a video or some freebie.
