Yes, well my methods for growing are probably different then yours. The accounts are on strict F/U schedules. Manual and automated have shoutouts, and M/S on them. So I don't rely on getting growth from just posting.

Yeah, that's a different animal. We don't do any follow/unfollow, just organic growth through posting.

Actually, I think, that something was changed, cause it's not the first time I hear about this issue.
If the quality of your content was not changed, then maybe there were some changes on IG side. I think it's really possible.

For sure. IG has been changing things constantly and unpredictably, in ways that defy logic.

It's not enough sometimes. Actually, it depends on the niche.

Exactly, it's not enough in most cases. The only way 1 post is enough is if in some way it optimizes something for your page...follower growth, total engagement...something, but one can't say it's enough because of some non-quantitative or subjective reason.

I think I read here or on Reddit that a few people had mentioned that IG shadowbans you or decreases your engagement/growth if you post "a lot." Some people have suggested 3x a day is now the "optimal" number, but one guy even said that his growth accelerated by cutting things down to 1 post a day!

We run a few pages and post 7x a day on one (that's the max) and two others where we post 5x a day. Since the send of Sept - beginning of Oct, follower growth and likes on those 3 pages have started to drop progressively to less than 50% of the previous steady-state growth. We do not use any hashtags on those pages, so I've been wondering if IG is indeed taking action for more "frequent" posting.

Not sure. Thoughts anyone?
What has worked best for me is posting 1 instagram post a day, and about 3 stories. Unless something like an event is happening and I have more content to post. Otherwise I try to not over-flood Instagram with my presence

The best advice is the one that said 'randomize.' Really, being natural is the best thing you can do at the moment.

"Being natural" looks like a rule for all the marketing now.

Unless of course Zuckerberg controls and changes what "natural" is on an ongoing basis. Then, all hope is lost. Lol

I suggest not posting more than once a day regardless of how many followers you have

Think it depends on what you want bro, great engagement and less followers or okay engagement and get more followers. The more you post you will gain more followers but your engagement will decrease. Just from my past experience

That was our experience in the past as well, but according to a lot of people now, posting more might actually cause you to grow less because of new changes in the algorithm.

I was just thinking about a scenario in the future when machine learning and AI have reached a point where they almost know for sure what 'natural' behaviour looks like... will this be the end of mass growing social accounts? Or will you be able to set up your own AI to counteract this possible development? Would be really cool if someone trained an AI to look out for what natural growth on social networks really means, like scraping info from thousands of accounts that are growing fast and organically ^^

There was a time period where I posted 24 times in a day on an account; 10 times a day on another related account. They grew alot & reached many accounts. But those results were conflated with follow/unfollow.

I stopped F/U on those accounts, and the accounts continued to grow.

Then I shifted my strategy to abandon F/U completely.

I started fresh with a set of twin accounts, F/U only until around 2000 followers each. Each account posted 6 times a day.

The accounts steady climbed then took off.

However, the interesting dynamic, they took off at different times at different rates.
The first account, the "little brother," took off and skyrocketed for a while, surpassing the big brother.

The big brother steady climbed, then completely outdid the little brother.

Both accounts are above 100k now, this was tested over 7 months.

Seeing success in just posting that amount alone, I brought the posting test (6x a day) over to my original accounts posting 24x & 10x a day respectively, this time with fresher/quality content.

Both accounts took off in a similar manner, outpacing the days I used F/U.

Lastly, I have an account that took off just posting 6x a day (no likes, follows, unfollows... to this day still follows 0 people). When i burned through the content, I posted manually between 1-3x a day. The account skyrocketed at a faster rate than when it was automated to post 6x a day. Minded I optimized what worked into those 1-3 posts a day.

All these points to emphasize that each account is different. What I have noticed consistently among the accounts, momentum carries each account so long as the account consistently posts. This is the only definitive thing I can find regarding the effects of posting frequency (thought expanded a bit below).

If the account has momentum in growth by a high posting frequency, reducing the frequency doesn't seem to hurt the accounts growth (i've seen quite the contrary). With that said, if the account has no momentum while posting at a high frequency, reducing the frequency to what works best (by the engagement numbers) for the account will give momentum & reach.

These are rough observations I spewed out from my notes, testing, & results.

The answer I assume you are looking for lies in the account momentum- notice how it grows, reach will take care of itself as depicted in the thread. You don't have to prioritize engagement over reach or vice versa.
