Hey Guys,

I have been here for the last six years but never write up anything. This time I thought to share which might be helpful. Please ignore my English. I know it sucks.

So I was reading about KGR keywords. Thought to try if it's working or not.

TL: DN -

  • Find a keyword using the KGR method.
  • Compiled a great post covering the topic.
  • Build 10 Web 2.0 properties.
  • Buy PBN Links.
If you are not aware of what is KGR (Keyword Golden Ratio), then you should read it out at the first point. Doug Cunnington comes up with this process to find some excellent low, competitive keywords.

So I did try to test with 4 KGR keywords. Here is today's result -

08gpYdJ

Now it's not a detailed guideline something like step by step. There is nothing to show in detailed how to do this. Information is all over the place. All I want to share what I did, how it works for me, and what resources I used.

Caution - I will promote a few services within this case study.

1st Step - Finding a Keyword

So after reading out the process, you will have an idea of how to find keywords based on KGR process. For more clarification, read this guide from @Holzr, which will help you to understand the process more efficiently.

If this still hard to understand or want to save your time, then you can try out this service -

Holzr's KGR Service

Remi can help you out to find the golden keywords based on your niche. I did talk with him via PM, and he sounds like a helpful guy.

I did this test based on three separate keywords. 2 are on the same topic. You can see the search volume from the screenshot. All four keywords are KGR compliant keyword.

keyword-golden-ratio.png

2nd Step - Create an excellent post covering the topic

After finding the four KGR keyword, I create three money content for my site. All three post includes ten individual short product review, along with the buying guide and a few helpful tips. In average, 4000 words per article. For buying guide help, you can check @Nerva's guide from here. It's an excellent read on how to write a buying guide for Amazon affiliate.

For on-page SEO, I didn't take that much headache. All I did to follow the checklist of Rank Math SEO Plugin, and wit's done.

I waited over six weeks, and I saw all the four keywords are ranked within the top 30 results. Few facts to note -
  • My site is four years old.
  • Already have some links throughout the other pages.
  • Have near around 1500+ traffic per month.
So I have no idea how the KGR keywords will work with the fresh and new website. I need to test it out soon.

3rd Step - Building Web 2.0 Properties

According to Doug Cunnington, he didn't build any links to rank the KGR keywords. But I believe it will vary niches to niches. All my keywords are around top 30 and didn't see any improvement over time. So thought to push with some links. I did build ten Web 2.0 for each post. I used the regular platform like Blogspot, Wordpress. Posted average 2-3 articles per blog and used junk keywords to link back to my site.

Simple process -
  1. Build 10 Web 2.0 for each post. Use a generic topic name for the URL. Like if you are working with the lawnmower then anything relates to gardening topic is the best for web 2.0. I don't like to build too specific blogs based on my keywords.
  2. Post 2-3 articles to each blog on average.
  3. Interlinking between each content.
  4. One - Two link to my post using generic anchor like read more, click here.
After that, I bought Kevin's PBN service to blust all the web 2.0. It's cheap as hell and worked for me.

I waited 2-3 more week's to see any impact and to be honest; it was not overwhelming. It did move the keywords within the top 20. But I was expected more.

Final Step - Buying PBN Links

So none of the keyword's are ranked yet. I want to buy PBN links. I purchased a few services before, but none of it was satisfactory. @tiiberius was my client back, and we worked a long time together in the past. Also, you can see I am promoting his service via signature. So I thought to give a try. I bought 3-5 links for each post.

Tiiberius PBN Links

Again I waited three more weeks to see the result. I can see the ranked pushed up over the days. And three days back, I saw three keywords are ranking higher, and one is still on the 2nd page. Then I decided to share the case study. The whole process took around three months for me. I read a few other case studies like how to rank KGR keywords within a month or days. I don't know how they did it. Maybe the niche or topic fact or I am doing mistake somewhere. I am still too NOOB for this SEO world. Still learning and trying to do well.

I did check my Amazon affiliate account. Started seeing a few sales already from the pages. Out of 15 sales, seven products are from the pages ranked under KGR keywords.

So all it matters, how you can rank KGR keywords easily. It's not that easy as it sounds or read. You have to work on it. Again note, niches and competition vary. But you can rank with a little effort. It's best if you are new in the affiliate marketing.

Great guide, I see a lot of hate for KGR and even see comments about Doug, however, KGR works. I've learnt it needs to be done at scale to see decent results (ranks vary) and the most important aspect of KGR is search intent. Nail search intent + KGR + manual SERP analysis etc. and you have some killer keywords.

Expired domain or existing strong domain + KGR feels like cheating Google. Have a fairly decent (18DR) expired domain started last month. Rankings have been very impressive with KGR.

I am looking for easy keywords constantly for my website/blog. I just tried calculating GKR and it did not work out for me. Example: I took a 7 word long tail keyword with 2500 searches volume (according to ahrefs) and according to allintitle: it has 300 results. So, it makes 0.12. Which is supposed to be super good result right? The article for this keyword was written in July 7. And my website is ranking only on the 8th page in google. I have much better results in ranking with other articles (have top positions for some keywords, so i know, my website is good) that I never calculated GKR. Sorry, i will not give keyword or my website address in DM. Do not ask.

I agreed. Specifically that manual SERP analysis point. Having a keyword with 0.25 doesn't mean it will rank for sure. You have to analyze the SERP result properly.

We are not asking about your website or keyword. You have to read Doug post properly. KGR works better with the below 250 SV keywords. Having a 2500 SV keyword with 0.25 is not actually KGR compliant. Read this out -

oh ok sorry about that :)) yep i missed that part

No issue, we all did. If you get a keyword with that SV with below 0.25 ratio, then it's a good one. It might take time but don't just let it go. Keep pushing with proper links, recheck the On-page, do the keyword gap analysis with the competitors or maybe few cluster content would do the magic. There is always room to improve better.

Congrats mate.15 sales are not bad at all if we assume most of the keywords you target is on second or third page.

Though KGR can be tricky a lot of times. You can have very low KGR if there is a lot of search volume for the keword but it doesn't mean the keyword will be easy to rank. It means if you can rank for that keyword you would have a good ROI. So for the newbies combine this KGR method for manual keyword comp. check so you target only the most easy ones.

Not 15 sales actually it's 7 from the ranked 2 pages. Rest of the 8 sales are from the old post. And the main targeted keywords are ranked in the top 3, not in the 2nd page. Sales will be low because the SV is near around 200. Can't expect anything big from it. All I want to check if KGR work's or not. And we also have to remember, the keyword with below 250 SV is the most compliant keyword for KGR process. Rest I agree with your point.

Thanks a lot for your appreciation.

Ohh i got it now..I thought u didn't rank for first page at all. Yeah 200 SV is a little low it would work better with 1000+.It would take a little more time to rank but better ROI.

About timing it is actually normal that it takes about 2-3 months to rank after all the new algorithm changes. The only solution for that is you either make a really big authority site about that subject which would take years or maybe add some expired domain redirects.

Nice thread man. KGR keywords definitely work 100%. I want to try it with local kws but I may not have time to do it.

I'll be reading this case study and following along.

Worst case, youll get great relevant content that will boost bigger keywords and money articles on your page!

Nice one man.

Thanks for the mention :)

KGR are definitely a thing. Although, I hear it's just a myth from lot of people.

I ranked a few of them on my authority sites in top 3 myself just to test it. With 0 links.

You are ranked in your main service as well. Top 3 for me under the keyword - PBN Links. Anyways it's worth to mention.

Thanks for this detailed case study. I was also wondering about KGR for my new site. I'll give it a shot and see how a 3 months old site ranks.

I'm a big KGR fan and started a new KGR focused site on the 1st of this month, and am already getting impressions and a few clicks. I've now scaled up finding KGR terms with Scrapebox and have 100's ready to go.

It will still take several months to get consistent rank for the articles, but from my last KGR test it's a method that works. That site is 9 months old and making $10 per day (ish) from Amazon.

Awesome...if possible enlighten up how you are using Scrapebox for KGR. Any tips would be helpful :-)

Thanks a lot.

Good to see you achieved good results with not so much effort.

Some people know 1 or 2 things about math, hence not believing in KGR :p

I don't want to bash the method, but KGR as a formula is useless, as it can't guarantee anything (in terms of defined scale). To me this is just a good way Doug found to promote his 'method', formulas do wonders to give more substance to any process/method!

Cool thanks for the case study. Been trying to break the how to rank fast myself and this thread had a couple nice data points!
