Hi, I have a question.
Can Instagram detect from where we open their emails?

I have some accounts on Jarvee and when I get email verification, I usually open the mail from my home IP to get the verification code, I dont click on any link in the mail... thought it was fine to open email from anywhere.. but I'm not sure.

No.

Instagram cannot log where you sign in and use your email account, and never will be able to.

You are fine. Copy/paste link

I read about email-opens beeing tracked, in case Instagram uses this they can see where an email from them is being opened. If that is not same locations as the proxys we use on for example jarvee.. I think it could cause problems... Or maybee I'm being paranoid

"Somebody who wants to track you can do two things; they can either send an email with a read receipt, or they can send an email with an embedded image (sometimes referred to as a bug or beacon)."

Read it on this page and some other pages also:

I don't know if Instagram is doing it or not,
But implementing something like this is so easy to do,
You can just add a pixel to the email you send and you can get a ton of information,
It's the same basis that let Email Autoresponders (MailChimp, Aweber...) knows if someone opens an email

Thats actually a nice question and topic. Usually all the email verifications are doing in a automated way. But in case you open it manually there is a chance of a small pixel being tracked. You can quickly figure it out by inspecting the e-mail code/body and check if there are unique tokens being passed.

yes, if I were IG and wanted to stop automation I would definitly use the mail tracking. How are you doing email verification with automation? IMAP?

Yeah, but they would not stop automation just by cross checking the e-mail IP. lol thats actually dumb but can obviously contribute to a red point in their trust system. Its a nice find btw, there is not much we can about besides investigate the tracking token.

You are wrong. It is definitely possible. A single pixel image that is unique to the user can check the IP that requested it.

Whether they do or not, is another question. It isn't foolproof as you could open the mail in a client in text mode or not show videos, but as most people will be using web clients that shown images by default...

pop / imap. But not images are pulled so any tracking is not fired

If they are there's a chrome extension to block it

This is possible.
MailChimp and other tools collect info about clicks, geo, open rate etc, Instagram can do the same. I am not sure if they doing it, but definitely can.

I use settings 'don't load images and scripts' in the email so this prevents some kind of tracking.

Instagram can not detect where you open your email, but if you click the link, your ip will be exposed. don't think instagram can track everything.

Did some research and it seems like they can pull data from it as others have said. I just downloaded the chrome extension "UglyEmail" which should stop this from happening. Lets see what happens

Sorry, but you are wrong as numerous posts above have said and explained exactly how it is done

"Should", not entiley comforting.

to 100% stop it:

Grab a copy of thunderbird, connect your email accounts
menu: VIEW > MESSAGE BODY AS > text only

every body got their own oponion and i keep mine, I managed 3 k accouns, and everyday register round 60 accounts, half of them are with email, if instagram can detect my email checking from pop3, i should be long gone from the market. I don;t want to be against with anyone, but i keep my opinion

I set that up to. I would think Jarvee conects to IMAP from the proxy on the account. So if IG pulls location it would be same location as the account proxy... but thats just my speculations

It is not opinion. It is a fact. It is very much possible to know which IP opened a mail (and other browser parameters). How to do it is detailed above. Whether ISG are doing it, that is another thing. But stating it is not possible is giving other people incorrect information.

No, that isn't how it works. HTTP proxies do not work with IMAP. They are different protocols. Programmatically connecting to IP is done from your local network IP. But they will just be pulling the text, as the mail is not rendered any images will not be pulled from ISG server, so it doesn't matter

no matter what you say, my opinion is my opinion, you can keep whatever fact you have, i keep mine. If you have to open email in a browser, of course as long as your browser renders that html/javascript , your info will be exposed like webgl and canvas. However there are so many ways to check the html based email, like pops IMAP, i DON'T think instagram can track also your fingerprint, no matter what you say, i keep my opinion. As for ip, i never say ip can not be exposed, but still so many ways to use proxy or vpn to do that.

No matter you reply or not, as I said, i keep myopinion
