Namecheap Hosting is Ridiculous

That customer rep is shit. I have upgraded free during blackfriday. You are going for upgrade and which
package you want, that is your freedom. Also, going from stellar to stellar plus is a logical choice which most
customers will opt for.

Try again with different customer rep. Complain about that previous rep.
If it doesn't workout, migrate.

I used Namecheap for a couple of years. It then became very slow even though I wasn't all that close to my bandwith / visitor limit. I moved to Siteground and haven't had any issues. Their customer support is top notch. I cannot recommend them enough.

That is why i migrated from namecheap to to cheaper alternative found on this forum. The first year for Hosting on Namecheap is usually reasonably priced, but the renewal is enormous, that is a catch!

I wanted to upgrade my current shared hosting plan to Stellar Plus as my traffic is started to increase gradually, but unfortunately their customer support did not allow me to upgrade to the plan I asked for and told me that I need to get a dedicated server for better usage. LOL

I told them my site is lightweight and well optimised. I even sent them a gtmetrix screenshot and my server stat as everything looks normal like this

But they're still persistent asking me to upgrade to their dedi server and did not allow me to test out another plan. My tech guy even told me that upgrading to VPS or even dedi server is too much and he's the one who's suggesting me to upgrade to Stellar plus.

I've been using Namecheap for years and have no issues before, but this time, they became ridiculous.
I guess it's time to move on to another host.

What about bandwidth of Stellar Plan?
One guy from the support told me that they offer 1 TB per month. Is it true?

Namecheap have definitely gone down hill over the last 6-9 months.

I have been getting a LOT more site downtime (503 server errors) for sites and everything is slowing down hugely. Support is also getting worse, I used to say they were the best I had experienced, but the last 6-9 months has been shocking, the techs have no idea what they are talking about and I spend 20 mins average trying to get really simple stuff sorted. Lots of complaints, lots of apologies and free hosting. Bottom line, it looks like they are employing low level grunts and cramming their servers to breaking point!

I currently have around 10 packages with them and LOTS of domains but given the issues, I have started moving elsewhere. Siteground has been awesome so far for me this week. Speed is amazing and they did the cpanel transfer for one old namecheap package. Will test further, and if all good I will move more across in the next 4 weeks.

I think of namecheap as cheap hosting to warm up sites now. Nothing more.

You were right. I got the same error 503 every now and then. Definitely going to move to siteground as some people suggested here.

I apologize that you weren't given the information--it would have been incredibly helpful to get context as to why the hosting package can't be uploaded to Stellar Plus. According to our systems, and we reviewed all of the LVE logs (EP, CPU, physical memory), the reason why Stellar Plus is not being recommended is because the particular hosting account has experienced enough traffic spikes to put it well beyond the capabilities of Stellar Plus. Your tech guy might recommend what he does on the basis of the regular site infrastructure, but considering additional variables like the platform we're using and how our shared hosting works in aggregate, our advice is to minimally use a VPS, and even better, upgrade to a dedicated server now or in the future.

Also, regarding other comments here: slowness on a WordPress backend could be due to a plugin issue, especially if it's consistently slow. Please contact support if you want someone to take a closer look.

Finally, pricing is competitive after year one.

Like I said before, they didn't give me more explanation about it. They just told me "for better usage" and that's it. The first guy I talked to didn't let me try the VPS, he insisted to upgrade to dedicated server. The second woman, she offered me a VPS and dedi server but pushing me to choose dedi instead.

Site is well optimised and lightweight. How are you gonna explain 503 error that happened frequently? I mean it's not just me who suffered it. See the previous post.

If you are really from namecheap, so you tell people that your hosting configuration and performance is bad compare to other shared hosting company where sites that will normally work at standard shared hosting will not work on your shared hosting and your customer will need vps and/or dedicated from you for that. I am not surprised a lot of people complain your shared hosting slow and they get better when migrate to other shared hosting company because you already acknowledge that on your own post.

I am just curious what is your limitations on shared hosting on each package ?
Maximum Disk I/O
Maximum network, CPU and memory usage
Burstable network, CPU and memory usage and how long it is allowed

This is basic parameter people used to consider before they advised their customer to upgrade to higher package or vps or dedicated server.

I'm actually in the process of looking for alternatives so thanks for the suggestion. You hit the nail on the head with your account of events. The downtime and phantom resource limit breaches are the very beginnings of a suggestion to must upgrade to VPS.

I got to say.. out of all the cheap hosting NameCheap for what I do ( its not heavy lifting) are absolutely spectacular for the cost.
My main site (the queen as I like to call her) is on a co-locate now so that's not a problem. The workers - my other sites are on Namecheap.
I had some on UK2 - om-fooking-God what a bunch of shit they are ! No email's no SSL - pay extra for whois ghosting - cant even 301 !!!. Loading times for a WP out of the box was horrendous - support.. what support ? I asked for a refund for my hosting because they wanted to charge me $18 for SSL it took them 6 weeks and 9 tickets !
I made a mistake on name cheap and the credit was on my account in an hour.
The live help know their shit - and if you ask nicely and treat them with a little bit of respect they will do the SSL for you or your DNS or your 301 while you wait.
Come on guys its in the Name - "NAMECHEAP" its low cost SSL parking/301 and email and a 20 page T2 for pennies - it is what it is you need to manage your expectations better.

Just do the research bro and compare it yourself. I monitor my server and I have virtually no downtime that's remotely noticeable. And I'm getting around 40k visitors a month.

I had issues with namecheap recently, not using them for hosting anymore, same goes for godaddy.
Had issues with file limits, some pictures wasn't loading on websites etc.

I moved everything on VPS's and using runcloud to manage servers etc. good setup there.

Thought it was only me but seems like I am not alone. Yes I get that shitty 503 errors and when I contact support they say they can't detect it.

For siteground is it a VPS? Do you have to manage the VPS yourself? I know namecheap VPS requires you to manage it yourself.
