Namecheap Hosting is Ridiculous

I wanted to upgrade my current shared hosting plan to Stellar Plus as my traffic is started to increase gradually, but unfortunately their customer support did not allow me to upgrade to the plan I asked for and told me that I need to get a dedicated server for better usage. LOL

I told them my site is lightweight and well optimised. I even sent them a gtmetrix screenshot and my server stat as everything looks normal like this

But they're still persistent asking me to upgrade to their dedi server and did not allow me to test out another plan. My tech guy even told me that upgrading to VPS or even dedi server is too much and he's the one who's suggesting me to upgrade to Stellar plus.

I've been using Namecheap for years and have no issues before, but this time, they became ridiculous.
I guess it's time to move on to another host.

Dude save yourself the future headaches and just migrate to a Siteground server. Their Grow Big package is enough for you.

Outside of their servers performing amazingly, the customer support is unmatchable. They'll even migrate your site/s for free.

I've been with them for about 5 years, ever since Site5 was taken over to EIG. I've even spoke to one of the managers over at Siteground and they assured me that they would NEVER sell out to EIG.

I have a cloud VPS with them because I have approx. 30 sites hosted at this time. But many of my clients have switched and used their 'Grow Big' package, and have thanked me non-stop since making the switch.
 
Lol, Godaddy is just as bad or maybe even worse, waited for 30 minutes wait on phone & chat to get someone finally and their response was, upgrade to VPS hosting if you don't want to experience issues.
not even sure why i would when the site there is super lightweight

How is their downtime comparing to namecheap? I got business stellar on namecheap and it feels a bit slow. Especially the wordpress admin panel
 
"scalable hardware" is what you are looking for. ;)

Edit:. Let me explain this a little more. Shared hosting is SHIT. Go for a vps provider who provides scalability. Even better, go for a provider who supports hardware scalability on the fly, like digital ocean or amazon. You will be at a much better position to handle the sudden surge.

Thanks for your suggestion. I have a few hosting packages on Namecheap that I need to move out. I'll take a look at Siteground for sure.

Lol classic! I've always heard bad things about godaddy hosting and stay away from them at all cost.

You should better switch to VPS of some other provider. There are only 2 kinds of web hosting:
- those who ask money upfront
- those who pressurize you to spend more

Always go for the first kind. Most reviews on the web are either affiliate or copy-pasted from affiliates. So, you should make a careful choice.
 
I'm using them, actually switched from godaddy to namecheap, they're dead cheap, and the service for the price is good (for the price) I only switched because I don't have/need so much traffic so the extra cost was unnecessary, if I had or needed the traffic I wouldn't use them or any cheap hosting provider for that matter.

go to something better or safer (godaddy/bluehost..), they say namecheap is the best domain provider but no for hosting
 
I wanted to downgrade, and they helped me. At that time I asked Namecheap, If in future I wanted to upgrade, what is the process. The Reply was" just pay the balance, and you don't need to worry about anything, You can upgrade to any plan you choose."

You can also ask them again by opening a different chat and confirming from different people.

Yeah, haha, They are terrible, but its my testing grounds, and i know their full of it if im having downtime in WP admin panel on a site with zero traffic and saying im getting too much traffic so i needa upgrade lolol

I also used NameCheap in the past, they ain't good for their cost either. i would personally suggest to go for some of the hostings in BHW, some real good ones are cheaper and more reliable than GD and NC.
 
You should move to another provider who provide good resource with every plan. Few providers offer higher ram, cpu with higher plan. You may checkout exonhost.

Exactly. I used Namecheap for new sites / small traffic sites and I was surprised that they told me to upgrade a dedi server without giving me more reasons.

That's actually the second time I asked from their supports with different person. I think they already marked my account so I won't be able to upgrade it to anything but dedicated server.

There are so many hosting providers here on BHW. Doesn't have to be cheaper as long as they're not full of shit like namecheap lol
 
Just migrate to another host, simple as that! They are obviously pushing there more expensive option.
 
i must suggest you to immediately migrate siteground if you does not doing blackhat at all, siteground is complete solution as your need [ none affiliate and original user experience thought]
 
I host 200+ customers who use my software daily on my cheap ass 2$ a year hosting.

Don't overspend, hosting is quick and easy, unless you're getting 100,000 views a day on your website you should be good to go with a cheap one.
 
Exactly as OP has described. Totally no need for upgrade but somehow they come up with flimsy excuses and find reasons why you must and should upgrade to premium VPS. I think it's a smart way of getting people to pay for additional resources that are used to make more money. Your expensive upgrade actually gives them more resources to play with.
 
Namecheap have definitely gone down hill over the last 6-9 months.

I have been getting a LOT more site downtime (503 server errors) for sites and everything is slowing down hugely. Support is also getting worse, I used to say they were the best I had experienced, but the last 6-9 months has been shocking, the techs have no idea what they are talking about and I spend 20 mins average trying to get really simple stuff sorted. Lots of complaints, lots of apologies and free hosting. Bottom line, it looks like they are employing low level grunts and cramming their servers to breaking point!

I currently have around 10 packages with them and LOTS of domains but given the issues, I have started moving elsewhere. Siteground has been awesome so far for me this week. Speed is amazing and they did the cpanel transfer for one old namecheap package. Will test further, and if all good I will move more across in the next 4 weeks.

I think of namecheap as cheap hosting to warm up sites now. Nothing more.
