I'd be fine with it if it were only allowed within the first week of a BST launching. It seems that's when the majority of questions get asked.

Edit: errr, allowing a response every 8 / 12 hours

I usually let a new seller slide on a BST as to the 24 hour rule as I think what you say makes sense. I might send him a PM if he gets out of hand there but in general it is good business for all parties involved.

I don't let them abuse the opportunity but I think it is the proper way to help a seller get his BST off on the right foot and a way to help the community learn about the services/products offered by the seller.

As things are today, the threads are generally full of reviews and meaningful answers. But if replies were unlimited, each page would be half-filled with "thanks for your order", and the meaningful posts would get lost in the clutter.

Also, a lot of questions will require clarification before being clearly answered. If that back-and-forth is via PM or profile posts, the only answer in the thread is the accurate one. But if that happens in the thread, it's just more clutter hiding the meaningful posts.

NO, why?

No big deal replying to different PMs and then once daily on the BST. If that is too much to do then just reply once daily and send no PMs...problem solved.

Often replies will make BHW front page filled only with BST threads allowing less space for the discussion threads.
I think you should be able to answer question when it's asked, but not to bump thread with own (useless) comments.
The person who asked a question should not wait 72 hour to get a reply and PMing everyone might not be the best solution either.
As long as replies are made to a specific question or an important update - there should be no particular restriction or it could be restrected to hours, not days.

Fake Accounts are still in action. I have gone through several BST and checked the profile of those newbies who say things like "10 order placed" or "Order placed, Transaction ID: 123456xxxxx" or "this is my 3rd order" so on and so forth.
They seem to comment only on the threads opened by those OP in particular. No other thread whatsoever. No other comments, reply nothing.
These accounts are actually being used by OP to manipulate the thread or to bump it for OP's profit. It could be the op him/herself or a VA has been hired for this shitty work.
But hey, this is just me being suspicious. I could be wrong. So, no hard feelings!
Be careful with these assumptions. Because, someone like me for example.. I was advertising my BST on BHW position 2 for two weeks. (Non-registered users were seeing my ad). But, in order for them to get a free credit to test my services, they had to comment on the BST. (Forcing them to create a BHW account).

So, this would be the reasoning to why new users only comment on the same bst, or whatever. If people who are not registered, see a BST, and the BST says to comment to get a free credit, then thats what their only person is... Is to comment..

This can be implemented as feature where bumps/answers/replies to Sale thread do not get it to the latest posts, but only push it to latest posts once 72 hours, regardless of how many times seller replies to his own thread (It should only be pushed to latest post once 72 hours)
This can be done from software.

Can be called renew feature. where seller press Renew button to send his thread to latest post on bhw main page. (Limited to 72 hours.)

If a one-post newbie makes a comment like "copy paste this in the sales thread then ping me on skype send me samples please", it's obvious that the seller is using fake accounts.

I agree the 'fake account' claims are often exaggerated, but it's not exactly a baseless assumption.

Yea true, but I think staff is familiar with activity long enough to determine whether or not someone is abusing the system... I am sure, if you just click the report button, they can look into it and determine easily whether or not someone is creating fake accounts.

not sure if it's possible on here but can post 2 be editable for a FAQ any questions PMd that is of general concern can be used in post 2 and updated.

Buyers never read the answers, sometimes not even all the thread lol
It's useless

Where the comments come from isn't the issue here, the issue is drowning out meaningful replies.

There are already some sellers who will use the 'reply for discount code' method to drown out negative reviews, pushing the review off the latest page very quickly. If the seller were allowed to reply to each comment individually, that effectively doubles the number of pages in the same amount of time. And since the reply count of a thread is itself a rough indicator of the popularity of any given service, that gives a huge advantage to sellers who reply individually as opposed to those who wait the usual 24 hours.

If sales threads were strictly limited to service-related questions and reviews, an argument could be made for loosening the 24 hour requirement. But since most threads would inevitably end up being an endless string of "thanks for your order" posts, it would reduce the usefulness of the marketplace as a whole.

Not sure there.. Because, the feature is only needed to be used on questions. (We still get our 24 - hour bump to say thanks). Sellers would not thank them twice. (If they did endless strings of "thanks for your order" then they would have no reason to actually bump it when the 24 hour period came).

I think sellers would actually benefit from adding this feature and I do not see how it could be abused as it adds no value besides answering a question.

"Can I have a discount code?"

That looks like a valid question to me, and under your rules, would be allowed an immediate reply.

If you're suggesting that only some sorts of questions would be exempt from the 24 hour bump, that's an arbitrary distinction that would put a lot of work on the mods for minimal benefit.

If the number of pages mean nothing, then why do so many sellers use the 'reply for discount code' method? Why not simply post one code to be used by everyone? If you want it limited to forum members only, post it as an attachment, which cannot be seen by non-members at all.

You are in the business of selling inflated numbers, so you know full well that a thread with ~500 replies is better than a thread with ~50 replies. And this is Black Hat World, which has entire groups of sub-forums dedicated to breaking rules on other platforms. Are you really suggesting that people who make their living with BH methods would suddenly switch to a pure white-hat methods when selling here?

No. I do not offer public codes. I offer a credit to all BHW members who confirm their registered account.

So, I do not think I am a good candidate for your question!

The question was an example, that's why it was in quotes.

I was NOT asking for you to send me a discount code, and by now you should know that trying to sell outside the Marketplace and HAF/WTB isn't allowed.

So obviously replying more than once per 24 hours would be terrible and would mess up the bumping system in place. More than half of you probably won't read this section and instantly say "NO" to prevent bumping, but I want a custom feature that replies and DOES NOT bump.

But, if you are a seller, you run into people asking questions on your thread, and you have to make a separate PM just to answer them... If we could make the reply public on the thread without bumping it, it would answer further questions asked by potential clients.

QUESTION:

Should we implement a reply feature that allows sellers to answer questions asked on the BST but does NOT bump it?

**We need a system to where we can reply to client questions asked on our thread, but does not bump it. At the same time, we should still be allowed to reply once every 24 hours. (This one, allowing a bump).

Yes or No?

**Don't answer unless you are a seller. Also, don't answer unless you read the entire question.

I voted no even though I am a seller myself. When people have questions just PM them. Once you can legally bump your thread/reply to your thread just multi-quote and answer publicly.

... Stop trying to manipulate what I was saying. I've spent enough money on here to learn the rules and I continue to learn them as I go. No one was trying to sell out of the marketplace.

Ahh ok! Thanks for your input! Your opinion is respected!!
