Ask me anything about Facebook Ads 2019

Which VCC card will be applied to facebook ads in US?

Do they approve ads on VCC?

I run ads targeted for +35 women and I got sales everyday except on weekends, not a single sale during 1 month on weekends, would be harmful for my adsets to make them work just on weekdays?

Hi Thanks for doing this. If it's for a B2B enterprise space, would you still recommend Facebook ads?

Targeting based on interest etc won't be as accurate. Job titles, seniority, company size etc would be more relevant. However, it's not a strong targeting option on Facebook.

Currently, i'm running linkedin ads because these options are available there. And then building custom/retargeting audiences on facebook once they've been pixelled after they arrive from my linkedin ads. I'm also trying to get personal emails from Linkedin via pipl to build a fb custom audience but that's not scalable.

Besides, Linkedin is expensive and not everyone is as active on linkedin.

Do you have any advice on what works for B2B Fb in 2019? Thanks man

B2B definitely works for Facebook Ads. Some better than others obviously. The more niche your business is the harder Facebook Ads will be. One recommendation if a middle ground between Facebook and LinkedIn is Twitter Ads. You can target followers of specific accounts and hashtags. But your retargeting funnel is good. What is your business/product price point and what industry are you in?

What is the best way to promote CPA offers with FB Ads?
Actually I got my account banned, because I was promoting CPA offer cloaked with bitly link. It went good for a week, and after that my account got disabled.

Bit.ly or any link shortener is not a 'cloaker'. If anything these bring more attention to your ad since they get abused by shady marketers. Your options are as obvious:
- Invest in a real cloaker ($250-$500+)
- Drive traffic to a squeeze page and promote offers through email
- Messenger campaigns

For a new e-commerce store there is no actual sales data so in your opinion how do you decide which products to test first? Do you ever run ads to a category page, or single product only?

For products that your e-commerce clients have are you looking to advertise more impulse buy products that have certain "gimmicks" to them rather than just a standard product they could find through search intent on amazon or google? In your experience does it matter if it has a "gimmick" in terms of conversion?

How are you scaling winning ads?

Thanks!

First of all, I wanted to thank you for all the info you are sharing here.

I've got a client that is looking for legal services leads. One of their verticals is for a 200k audience (i.e users from certain bank that went on bankrupt). Do you think it will be difficult to reach them out?
I've built a landing page sharing some information and offering a free consultation call to understand their situation and try to hook them for my client's service on the phone.

What type of targeting should I do?
Thanks,

Heeeey don't forget me :(

Hello, I'm starting off as a DJ and I want to promote my music that I post on youtube. I will do FB and IG ads, I used to work with fb ads a few years ago (CPA).
Do you think that method will work, since I want people in my region to see and know about me and my music?

Sorry I missed you! No it is not. Dayparting is a common strategy, I know some advertisers/businesses that only run ads during certain hours on certain days. You can see when your sales actually come in by clicking on Breakdown > then selecting your time range.

Single product only. It is much better to directly test the product vs. each other (as in, drive traffic to their specific product pages) rather than the category pages.

I wouldn't say any of the eCommerce clients have any gimmick products. They are common products with strong branding, think things like swimsuits, women's beauty products, etc. Gimmick products like weight loss belts or ab wheels I have not seen do well.

Scaling I double the ad budget on a duplicated ad set until I reach substantial spend ($100 usually) then scale slower, usually 20% increases.

Are you saying the audience of the bank has a 200k audience in Facebook? I'm a bit confused. If it is a local bank I wouldn't do any targeting outside of the specific zip codes that they operate in.

Yes, I work with a few artists/producers that promote their music through Facebook and Instagram ads. It helps a lot if you have some sort of visual to go along with it (a music video, those beat visualizers you see in YouTube videos) since a lot of people don't watch videos with sound.

Sorry I meant that the users affected from the bankruptcy are 200k in my country. That means, my clients have 200k potential customers/leads. That's the max limit of people they can reach.

How can I find them?

I would need to know about the specifics of the case. If it's a bank that went bankrupt like in your example you could look into the bank's related interests in the Audience Insight's tool.

Can you suggest any checklist or metrics for facebook ads

I'm not quite sure what you're asking... What industry/products you are promoting also helps to know

You seem like a pro. im looking for someone to set me up on FB Ads. for payment of course.

YouTube and blogs are good, I recommend AdEspresso's blog. However you will learn 5000%+ more in your first week running campaigns yourself then you will from anything you can read or watch.
Thanks for the reply but i was kind of hoping if you had any particular youtube channel you follow and/or can recommend. There are dozens of channels about FB ads out there.

I don't watch any anymore. Miles Beckler's Facebook Ads overview video (2 hours or so long) is a great starter

Thanks for the AMA. I’m enjoying the interesting tidbits so far.

Just a couple of questions:

How would you market for local businesses like:
1) mid- upmarket professional hair salons and shoe polishing services(or any type of cheap but “premium labelled’ services)

2) ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ type of businesses with short customer lifespans, such as wedding planners, wedding dresses etc, and funeral parlors

3) gentlemen’s clubs or girlie bars with hookers- are they prohibited by Facebook’s T&A as adult advertising?

And also:

3) Would like to know How do you manage clients who are complete noobs to fb ads, and only willing to use a minimal ad spent budget like $100-$300? Their rationale would usually be they just want to ‘test the waters’ before they go balls deep with ad money.

Do you convince them that this figure isn’t feasible for testing and make them put in more? Do you work out a cheap package fee for these guys? Or do you simply reject working with them?

1. Target zipcodes with no additional targeting. For local businesses the biggest area they struggle with is the creative of the ads (imagery/copy). I'm sure you've seen some ads for local businesses that look absolutely terrible.

2. Wedding planners and dresses are easy, lookalike audiences of their customer databases or targeting 'engaged' relationship status, or wedding planning websites/registries. Funeral parlors would be difficult, maybe targeting old people? A bit morbid hahahahhaa

3. Yes, wouldn't be able to advertise these

4. Retargeting and upselling. Any business that has existing revenue can utilize these and, if done correctly, are basically guaranteed profit. These usually calm any doubts they might have and we can move into new customer prospecting.

Thanks for the AMA thread.

I want to use Facebook Ads to promote as a musician/influencer.

Have you had any experience with this niche and how's the performance?
