Following! Hope to see good results and I'll start doing 2.0s for my sites as well
What are you talking about?
The link from the post is a meta-redirect. Which means it passes juice.
That is the theory.
In practice, I see results on my own pages and I have clients getting back for more links from posts because they work.
So, at least have you tested this before getting to this conclusion?
I have read all comments and posts so far and still don't understand how web2.0 works. So if I may ask in a lame mans understanding, is this what these whole case study means:
1 - Get x amount of expired tumblr accounts?
2 - Login to each using VPN
3 - Submit article on each tumblr accounts without links
4 - Wait for x days
5 - Edit each article and add links (where do the links point to?)
6 - Not sure what next from here...
for 5, you should only add links in the tumblr description area, not in the article since you won't get any benefits. you need to add it here
https://www.tumblr.com/customize/YOURTUMBLRPAGENAME
once you go to this link, you will see a description field on the left side. insert your HTML paragraph and your link here.
Mine has been bouncing around a bit, I'll be doing an update to this down below.I'm running a similar text with some web 2.0 links. Once they started indexing my keywords tanked and have been bouncing. I stated with my main keyword at 19. After the first web 2.0 indexed it fell to 40. It has been bouncing from low 30's to nowhere, day to day. Hoping it will settle higher than I started after they all index and it settles in. Still adding more links and will see in a few months.
It will be interesting to see if your results are similar.

read agin about 12 up diffrent link ...... where he put the link .....I don't see the point of your reply.
I wasn't asking how you can get a link from Tumblr description.
Thanks for sharing quality information and updating my knowledge to drive traffic for my website. It's been a while since I've done a case study on here, with the last one revolving around ranking a parasite page.
For as long as I can remember, Web 2.0s have been widely debated on whether or not they're any good.
I would say that they definitely have their place in any SEO campaign. In this case study, I'll be building several of these properties across various platforms.
These platforms include:
Wordpress
Medium
Tumblr
As for the rest, I'd actually be curious to hear what other people would like to see which platforms are being used. This is really to bring in a bit of audience participation.
I've used web 2.0s to great success in the past, although I didn't solely use these to rank the page.
In this case study, I'm taking a page that's been up for around 2 months, and has been dancing a bit during that time. No links have been built to it.
The rankings as of today are:
View attachment 108182
Nothing will be outsourced. Instead, I will be writing all of the content for these properties myself. Rather than answering the same question over and over, I've included a Q and A of some things that I will most likely be asked.
Q&A
What's your niche?
Heh, nice chance. I'm not sharing this.
How difficult is the keyword?
The keyword has a difficulty of 35 on KWFinder. I'll add in as well that it's one of my poorer pieces of work. I really didn't spend as much time on it as I should have done. This is undoubtedly a factor in the ranking. However, I'm extremely curious how these Web 2.0s can help (if at all) boost the rankings. I will more than likely go back and amend the page at some point as well during this case study to see if that has a bearing on the rankings.
Why not just use PBN posts?
I'm a big fan of PBNs. I've been using the Wolf PBN for over a year now and had excellent results. However, there is also the fact that those just starting out won't necessarily be able to afford to go down the PBN route. If done correctly, I am hoping that this will be a way to show others that they can use these free properties to raise the ranking of a somewhat easy keyword and in turn get some decent money. This money can then be reinvested elsewhere into a PBN for harder to rank keywords.
Even if it is the case that this case study falls flat on it's face, it has at least altered the anchor text and backlink diversity.
Will you be using spun content?
No, I will be using unique, hand written content.
How will you get around the IP issue?
I will be using a VPN for this one. I've been using this with great success for a year on Reddit and never had any issues.
What % of anchors will you use?
In this it'll be a mix of exact match, generic and partial match. I haven' decided what the percentages will be yet.
But, Web 2.0s aren't blackhat, why isn't this in the whitehat section?
If you build any link yourself, it's blackhat.
I think I've covered everything here, although I'm sure there's more I can add later. This is going to be a slow burner and I've not even started writing the content yet. I want this to be as natural as possible, as opposed to my parasite case study whereby I hammered the properties hard and fast with links. I doubt I will do any spammy linking to these.
Feel free to suggest any web 2.0s you'd like to see included in this case study and I'll do my best to add them. This should be a pretty interesting one, and lucrative since there's 5k searches per month for this.
It did. If you take a look at the latest screenshot he was already in the 50s and in the op his site passed the 100 mark.ok i just scrolled fast, but my guess is that web 2.0 did not made a big difference on rankings?]
did you crate a tier2 ot tier3 to give more power to this web2.0? sorry i did not read all the responses
Can I create 20 medium profiles with my same ip or do I change the IP every single time I create a new and use a new property?First, I will be following this thread.
Second, about 3.5 months ago, I started web 2.0 but only with tumblr (PA above 40) and results are just awesome, was targeting only 1 keyword and after applying great effort the keyword was landed on 1st page, still working on it to get on top 5, KD was 55
