Lots of people use tumblr for backlinks and this week I wa talking to someone about tumblrs and he was unaware of the process to backlink properly so I slapped together a TERRIBLE video so that you can see the process if you do not already know it.

To be honest, the video is poorly done but if you can stand that aspect of it, you may learn something about using tumblr.

Noooo, goddamit.. now I have over 100 expired tumblrs to edit! Thankfully I didn't register the rest of the ones that I need to, now I know.

Thanks a lot for the information.

Also, you said that it's perfect for low competition keywords.. I'm using them with high competition, of course expired tumblrs and using 301 to them.. and they're doing amazingly for my high competition keywords.. In any case, thanks a lot.

Great one there BTB. Hope Tumblr support doesn't see this one.

Gosh, am overwhelmed. You've pushed several wisdom into Me. Am not going to give up as much as Tumblr wanted me to. Thank You!

Thanks for the tip! I did not know you could insert HTML into the description.
Great video, keep it up!

Thanks for the great share. How many of you are doing it wrong, raise your hand. My hand raised.

Been doing this for a while, hopefully tumblr doesn't fix that too. There are couple more tricks to place your link without redirection, if you search good enough ;)

I disagree with this.

I have tested and seen the redirects still work passing juice.

I would also say that putting a blatant link into the header, that will appear on EVERY PAGE you create, is basically creating the equivalent of Wordpress sidebar links or footer links, that everyone including I'm guessing the OP says is a big "No No".

Yoohoo Tumblr, look at my link spam.

Come on.

Come on.

No one said you need to put it in every tumblr. I mix it up, sometimes just in description, sometimes just in post, sometimes both.
And I agree that redirection still passes juice, but link in description is more powerful, and it gives effect much sooner.

If you use the "post link" type of posts it also counts as a backlink.

I have some Tumblr editing to do looks like. Nice guide, btw your voice and speech delivery remind me of Gary Vaynerchuk

I've never watched any of his videos although I know of him and understand he offers quality but, hands on I have no real knowledge.

My delivery with this video is way off as to quality for a couple of reasons and I even had some reservations as to sharing it but asked a friend if he thought it would not kill several dozen people if they listened.

He thought a few would die from the lack of quality but a little collateral damage would be OK in the long run.

Anyone elses links being removed?

For me the anchor text is being left alone but the link is being removed. hmm.

the video shows that it has to show :D so its good enough for me. great work and thanks.
