Hi,
I have 2 questions already on the title of this.

Here's the background of my issue.

I created a new site that is image intensive, all my focus has been to rank for 'web' result and if possible image. But I somehow do keyword stuffing on my image alt text.

Now, my ranking has gradually picked up on web result and also image. But I noticed my positions on web result are far better than those on image even though I first started getting impression on images. My average SERP position on web result according to Search console is 16.* while those on Image result is 140+ you see the huge gap?

Also, I believe it's as a result of keyword stuffing, maybe I should have been getting tonnes of traffic from here(image) because I am getting hundreds of thousands in impression, if I were at the first 10 position I would have been faring better, the sites that are topping(above my site in the image SERP) me on the image result are the ones I am outranking on the web result already.

To the major aim of this question/thread.

How do I recover and get to the top of image SERP? If I fix the alt text issue would I recover? How do I notify Google that I've fixed this? Or is Google's stand on my site current position on the image SERP final?

I'd be very glad if some pros like @BassTrackerBoats could be of help here, I read his interview by @Geasy, he said a couple of things about image search.

Thanks in advance

If you have filled in all the image properties then your good to go. Flipping images every 2 weeks with similar (about 80% of previous image properties+ new text) then you will see a spike..once you have indexed about 3-5 images then crate a gallery for that place holder..keep building the gallery and boom you will have all your web images across the top rows :-)

Keyword stuffing alt tags on images, interesting, this is black hat no doubt, but no idea if this will give you penalty or amazing temporary results.

KW stuffing on alt text in images is actually a viable process to rank TODAY. I suspect that at some point G is going to come along and burst that balloon but that works really well for lower competition KWs and does super for Local SEO (I use that often for my local clients).

You'll rank that image for sure and it does have an effect overall for the site but I am not so sure this is a strategy that I am going to continue to hang my hat on long term as it is not common sense and I do common sense SEO.

Do it now, enjoy the benefits but be prepared to clean things up and have a plan to get things cleaned up as I am sure that it is not something that we will see as viable in 2020.

Hopefully I'm wrong and we can continue to game G but SEO is more fluid than the Niagara Falls and the only thing we can guarantee is that things will change.

Well, the bot will read the text version of the page and if you should be penalized for keyword stuffing I'd assume it's the entire page that would get penalized rather than just the image. Is your image unique? If it isn't that might be the cause, add a border or do something to it in photoshop to make it seem as unique to google.

Thanks for your suggestion, I'll start doing this

I really have to clean things up right now because I actually have long term plans for this site.

Thanks

I'm yet to get the temporary results though

Before you upload an image and its located on your computer you should right click on image select properties and fill in as much info as you can.

Ive been using this method on yt video thumbnails, flipping thumbnails over "x days" , if one is game enough you can (but not advised) feed yt thumbnail in realtime for every "x" amount of days although that's an exploit i don't advise nor show how its done...but it does work.

Do you mind explaining properly what you meant? not necessarily showing how you do it. Don't show just explain.

Changing thumbnail over in x amount days is what i previously mentioned. The live link thumbnl is something i wont get into but you may have heard of it being used in the music industry ;-)

It's okay, even though I didn't get a thing.

Thanks for trying
