[How to] Create Unlimited FREE Shopify Stores

It actually makes me uneasy knowing that everyone thinks this is a magic hidden gem and that “we can’t believe Shopify is letting it slide.”

Shopify has this feature available for its partners (agencies) who build websites for clients on the Shopify platform. Leading to more stores on the Shopify platform.

While this may seem like an AMAZING discovery, it’s really not. There are a few key limitations that are huge drawbacks but the primary drawback is that you can’t add a custom domain until you pick a plan.

Why’s this important? Well if you can’t figure that out, do you really deserve a Shopify store?

So long story short, it’s never getting patched so there’s no need for it to be JR VIP only.

OP said that he was able to link his main domain...and accept payments...

“They’re free of charge, hold no time restrictions and offer most of the same functionality as the Advanced Shopify plan. However, until you switch to a paid plan you can’t:

  • Install paid apps (except for a selection of https://apps.shopify.com/collections/partner-friendly-apps).
  • Assign a custom domain.
  • Process more than 50 orders (although you can create unlimited test orders).
  • Create more than 10 private apps.”

Actually, I’ve been using it for years so I’m pretty sure I know my shit.

Hey tough guy, explain why I was able to add a domain and charge my creditcard, including receiving payment to my bank, on the developer site. I'll wait.

In case you can’t read, you can process up to 50 orders in the developer account, “tough guy”.

As for the custom domain, that’s 100% bullshit. Either you connected a pre-existing store to the partner account or you’re messing with something that you’re not mentioned in the OP.

I’m speaking from experience, and from knowledge about the program which I use over and over again on a weekly basis for my clients.

Could I be wrong? Yeah, maybe. Am I? No, I’m probably not.

I can read, and I know I processed a custom domain to that store, that is CURRENTLY WORKING, 3 days later.

I didn't do any bending or exploiting, other than "click here to add a custom domain" and following the instructions. And the domain was taken from an existing... WORDPRESS SITE.

So, they're incorrect on their own fucking blog, because it was an option available on the landing page after you create a developer store. This is on a brand new shopify account, so nothing pre-existing.

Good for you.

That's your response?
Why not this instead?

"Sorry, I was wrong. I've blindly followed suit and never attempted to put a custom domain because they said I couldn't... Sensual, you are the man."
Because I am not wrong.

The reason is responded the way I did is best described by a quote from Mark Twain...
“Never argue with a fool. Onlookers maybe not be able to tell the difference.”

So you're calling me a fool? Are you 100% sure that you can't add domains on a custom level, to developer pages?
100% sure?!?!?! please type 100% sure if you are certain that it cant happen.

nice share ...... i bookmark to find it again

In regards to the JrVIP only, I reached out to BTB and asked if he would reinstate it to its original section, but he hasn't responded back to me. You're right, it will never be patched. There's no need as this is 100% intentional on Shopify's end. Also, I've stated many of the same things that you did as well in my replies throughout this thread. I'm well aware that this is to aid developers, as I am one myself.

Anyway, about the custom domain and 50 order limit thing. I'm 99.9% sure that whatever used to be the case is no longer the case. I was unaware of that 50 order limit, but that custom domain issue has been lifted for dev stores. (As Mr Tyrannosaurs has already shown).

Sorry, I saw that PM, had planned to take action and got tied up.

I'll move it back based on what we are seeing here in this thread as I do think that shopify wants people to take advantage of this and it can be a real help for the community as a whole.

No worries, figured you were busy. Thanks again for taking the time.

If this is getting moved, I'll need to have all my posts deleted, for privacy reasons. ;)

thank you so much man ! you made my day as I was to start getting into dropshipping and found this ! anyway have you been able to make more than 50 orders with those stores ?

I'm not sure about the 50 order limit, as now they have removed other previous limits and there's a good chance they removed this as well. I guess the only way to be certain is to get 50 orders and then see. To be fair though, if you hit 50+ orders, and for some reason they then force you to upgrade, you should definitely then be able to afford it.
