Is it really beneficial to block the content of the website?

The problem is this makes for a really bad user experience in my opinion.

I’ve seen other plugins that will
Attach a source and link when text is copied from a site - I think that’s better in my opinion -

It’s less intrusive for visitors and you might get a small percentage of links when people copy and paste your content.

Also, let’s face it, if someone wants to copy your content they’ll find a way around those other plugins.

that sounds nice, but some idiot is stealing my content and ranks above me using my article that it took me a day to write and research over 1000 words, It sucks really he steals articles I think he is from another country or third world and is doing the tactics that ruined search for all of us, aka made for adsense website posting articles up daily from other sources to get ad clicks.

I saw few wordpress websites, they block right mouse click, F12 button and CTRL+F, they have pretty much good position on SERP. So the only way for someone to copy content from them is to paste "view-source:" before the domain name. Only a "few" people know for that, so I think they are protected.

My question: I'm thinking to add same on my website, is this good idea and what's the best wordpress plugin for this?

Even popular blogs don't do these kinds of things. Don't focus too much on content protection for a few scraper. concentrate on your user experience.

That sucks. But if he’s using those tactics you won’t stop him with a plugin

Play him at his own game - spend time researching all of his tactics and find out what he’s doing better than you to rank your content, then up your game until you beat him.

I don't want to disapoint you, Alex , but this can't stop stealing content from your site.

I have over 4 years of experience with Web Scraping so I know. I don't think that my website will be target for someone who know how to scrape.

I’ll let anyone copy my site. Sometime from 10 those who copy, 5 will give credit (backlink) and my site goes rank well too. Lol

There is a reason the major websites are not using things like that. Right-clicking stuff is something people do all the time and those plugins do cripple the user experience. For instance, people right click to open links in new window. Whoever wants to copy will copy anyway.

Well he is using illegal tactics but I dont want to play that game, I checked his website he basically has a wordpress that looks like a professional site but he just steals articles his site actually copies and pasts articles from nytimes, and other big name sites but my articles he outranks me for since im a smaller site.

I think what happened with my ranking is Im a smaller niche news site and all the spammers would go on google news to steal articles so I had basically few backlinks when I got approved by google news years ago, so all the scrapers and spam sites started backlinking to me out number the few good back links I had from high authority websites and that hurt my rank in 2013.

The problem is I dont even know what sites to add to my disavow file, I used it a year ago and no increase in serp, some new spammer selling womens cosmetics or furniture keeps popping up on my webmaster console linking 2000 backlinks all to my homepage

I asked google help about this and they told me there is no such negative seo and that not to worry about it you dont really need disavow tool anymore because google computer algo can tell the difference now and wont count those websites anymore just work on good content.

well Ive worked on good content and still dont rank for single keywords

I used to rank for single keywords in my niche years ago Id type one keyword and my article would be on in the news or top stories or on the front page, now the only way I can see an article in the serp is if I type my title or a string of keywords, and usually if im lucky ill be on the second page of search at least no more front page

Any suggestions for wordpress plugins that actually do that? Ie. when someone copies your stuff there is a link back to your article.
