Hello!

I've just started building my shop recently (shopify+ali) and looking forward to starting dropshipping business. Here are few questions I've stumbled upon, hope you can help me out friends :)

1. I need to choose payment gateway option for the credit card, and in my country (lithuania), there arent that many options to choose from
  • 2Checkout
  • Authorize.net
  • Checkout.com
  • PAYMILL
  • PagBrasil
Id guess either 2Checkout or Authorize.net is the way to go as they are most commonly used? Would love to hear some advantages and disadvantages of those two and how would it work exactly.. Would I have to pay for the service / etc etc

2. Lets say I have high hopes to succeed and get lots of orders.. How do I deal with tens or hundreds of order fulfillments in a short time span ? Seems like oberlo offers semi automatic way, but as far as I know you still need to press button once for each product, and while it may not sound hard, if you have hundreds of them daily, I imagine there should exist "more" automatic way, no ?

2.5. (I am thinking of targeting either US or worldwide. Do people target US only to save on ads as people are more likely to buy stuff online here, or are there some other factors? My niche would be traveling related items)

3. Is there a way not to spend your own money but rather use customers payment to pay the supplier and just take whats left for yourself? I guess not?

4. What if there is discount on aliexpress on item I like that’s gonna end very soon and I start dropshipping? Is the discount "fake" and the price will remain same or will it actually end and ill have to pay higher price for the product?

5. What are the most common mistakes new dropshipping members make? (just to be clear, I am graphic designer and I am pretty good at marketing, but I am talking about the more "technical" side of things, like the payment gateways for example)

Would appreciate any feedback / advice. Thanks!

Wow you have effectively just asked how do i run an ecommerce business.

You need to search this forum there are discussions on all you ask.

If you are confident you are going to be successful you are best running with fba (fulfilment by amazon) all your scaling issues are taken care of, plus if you understand amazon seo you get traffic to your products for free, but this requires greater up front costs, a few thousand $.

Shopify + ali is a beginners way of dipping your toe in the water and has all the issues you outline, which scale as you get bigger but less initial upfront costs.

So you can trade upfront cost for hassle and that is your choice.

Thanks for the reply. I've been searching a lot and think those questions are somewhat unique and more of a personal/feedback type (if that makes any sense, gosh I am not good at this language) so I though asking a forum was a good idea. It may look like a lot of text but those are all the questions that are on my mind right now after a lot of dropshipping related research.

About the amazon thing.. It sounds interesting yet little bit too complicated for me as of now, I also dont have much money to invest so I think ill start it easy with ali

The mistake most people make is they focus on the set up cost and forget about the cost of driving customers.

The first thing you should do is work out how you will get customers to your products. If you have no plan for that the rest is a waste of time and if you have no decent traffic budget you will really struggle to have a successful store.

I will try FB ads at first, might as well try Instagram influencers

Based on what you have said if i was you as your still learning join an affiliate program for a site that sells something like you want to.

Learn how to get traffic that converts and make sales, then build your own site and direct the traffic there instead of the affiliate program. That way you learn about getting targetted traffic a lot quicker.
