I use Skype but as @Zwielicht mentioned above it's offered for extended support to clients/partners.

In my opinion though, Skype does make conversations and project discussions easier.

One tip I have for you to avoid being scammed is if you receive a message on Skype from someone posing to be a certain member on the forum request for them to send you a PM from their account to verify.

Skype is not popular in my country. That's why I dont have one.
BBM and WA stil the most popular.

Personally I really don’t like Skype. It’s so buggy. It’s just another example of how in tech industry the most popular product isn’t always the best one.

What would be the issue if you are just chatting with another?

Who cares if it is just one person talking to another about general stuff?

To each their own.

I could go on and on about the importance of security. I know it is a balance. If security is too inconvenient, it will be ignored. If it is not properly explained or understood, it will be ignored.

I still use unencrypted email. I am using this forum, and it just uses usernames and passwords on top of SSL for authentication, but the content remains unencrypted. I too use less secure channels of communication. I am not hating.

I prefer to err on the side of caution.

Its a easy way to communicate with people in real time, its a popular platform from back-in-the-day and if it ain't broke, then why fix it.

I don't think most people are trying to scam people... they just want to be able to communicate in real time (sure there are a few bad apples that want to mislead/scam you away from the BHW Mods, but they are in the minority).

You make valid points and I'm not trying to make you look silly or anything.

Without a doubt there are times Skype telegram slack and others are not smart to use.

There are times it does not matter though as some interaction is just random chatting.

If what I said above was out of line I offer my apology because i did not mean to do that although I did not type that in a way that was understood.

discord is where it's at
How old are you? Discord is so unsecure and i laugh when people call it secure xmpp is secure. Discord doesn't even encrypt messages thats how little fucks they give about privacy.

So, a day or two ago Signal and Skype announced that Skype is getting end-to-end encryption via Signal. Hah! With Skype's past being what it is, I would still steer away from them, because you cannot just take buggy software, slap some crypto on top of it, and have a secure product. (Other communication platforms use Signal's solution and they have their own vulnerabilities due to their implementation. It will take Skype some time to stop any bleeding and heal. All that aside, this news about Skype and Signal is good news for Skype.

Have a journey through the SL threads. There aren't very many that don't include a Skype chat.

What a BS, this is not Mr. Robot or the darkweb.

When you are on the darkweb and do illegal shit sure I would never use Skype but use pidgin.

For legal stuff all of that end to end bs is overkill. Make a strong PW and don't click mails from Nigerian princes and you will be fine.

How else can i send my friend a cat pic, and have a chat about it!

Agreed. People use VPS's just to use many Skype/PayPal/bhw accounts or use new proxy on desktop. The most anoymnous ppl here on bhw probably use Skype and accept PayPal. They got it figured out. If you use any protonmail then of course the police will target your address. If you appear as a normal cat like everyone else then you don't get the spotlight.

I had protonmails when I was doing stuff on the darkweb and when I made the switch to marketing, damn those protomails were annoying. Pasting those long passwords every time, double verification, it cuts in my time :)

Yes, I love being lazy and spending less time on a login screen. Marketing gets people off the deepweb which is pretty sweet. Seeing guys turning away from carding is always a plus for us dropshippers.

People are just used to Skype, and it works for them. It just depends on how you like to contact other people. However, I never had any problems with it - seems secure to me.
