Intro(Why I'm Leaving My Last Journey)
Hey guys, you can see I've been trolled a bit in the lounge for asking about guru courses. So, I've confirmed there aren't shortcuts. That's fine haha.

Now, I've gotten a quite a few jobs on Textbroker. But, I don't care to do the most crowded thing on the Internet for pennies per word. (They also demand articles that read like some chemically castrated English professor wrote them)

If I learned anything from it, it is to just do it. Content serfdom revealed that writing content is nothing like I imagined.

Also, I'm only an above average writer, but I have been coding for years. Why am I leaving that resource on the table?

Plan Outline

My plan is to do a slightly more specialized thing for 300 to 500 bucks a job. And that is web design.

I will basically cold call ugly and/or slow websites. Basically, I'll customize my themes with their info and show it to them during my call. The idea is I have something in hand. Most web designers offer the promise of a site one day. With this method you can offer a site done for them right now. That is easier than using Wix from their perspective. Running a business is stressful and this alleviates that instantly.

This is based on a method I found on BHW. When I can post links, I'll share it.

I already know how to design sites, and I'm not afraid trying to help a faceless phone person. At the very least I'll learn something.

WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO COLD CALL???
It seems there are two solid ways people on BHW make serious money with limited capital:
  • rev share affiliate programs with churn 'n burn traffic sources
  • skills arbitrage: taking highly competitive skills and offering them to mom and pop businesses
I know dick about getting traffic, so that leaves me with the second option.

Basically, if you look at the off-line methods, there is much more money per transaction. And there's fewer $5/day kids like me running around. Also, I'll improve my ability to persuade others. That's valuable even in a world with no money or technology. I'm sure it's a pain in the ass, or it wouldn't be worth doing.

Maybe this will work, or maybe not quite. First thing I have to do is act. Then I will have something to assess. ONLY THEN, can I consider changing my response. Otherwise I'll be trapped in a loop of mental masturbation.

Decision "Metrics":
  1. Make 4 pitches a day to hand targeted prospects.
  2. Make 5+ calls to each prospect for follow up.
  3. Prospect at least 50 businesses before moving to another journey.
Goal To Focus On Right Now:
Make 1 sale of ~$400 no later than 8/21/17.

This is my goal because repeating that every week would enable me to move out and be less of a dependent piece of shit. A lot of people have become infantile and helpless, I'm not one of em'.

Possible Goals Afterwards:

  • Make 2 sales a week in order to build a nest egg towards building web business software
  • Hire a designer from Fiverr, so I can focus on selling.
  • Choose unmet problem(s) for web business SaaS. Specifically Wordpress.
I'll update every three days, so that I don't spam my post count.

Hey, I've done something similar and I can tell you that you will need to call around 100 people to make a sale or 2. So if I was you, I would target to call a minimum of 50 people a day for a week.

"Make 1 sale of ~$400 no later than 8/21/17."

Made a post yesterday and want to make sales by last month? Hope it's a typo error.

Anyway all the best.

Hi bro

So you design websites before you ask for the sale ?
How do you design them ? Through divi theme or wix ?

Just a quick thought:
If you present me a ready website why should I pay 400$ for it. You can't use it for anyone else but me and you already did the work.
If a painter paints my house and afterwards ring my bell and tell me to pay money for it it would be an odd scenario?
Maybe you try to sell some "package" with support and get a smaller amount per month (e.g 15$ per month). ?

Best luck for your new business.

Thank you for the replies and advice everyone :)

Yep I am finding this out for myself. But, I am glad I am personally experiencing it instead of reading it.

Yep :p, you're right I meant 9/21. I am getting close to closing a deal with a customer. I just have to meet him tomorrow at 930 am.

I take a few themes I like, and a few themes that I have made, then I make child themes.

Hmmm, that is an interesting point. If I still don't close a sale by 9/21, I might tweak my pitch from saying right now to here is a starting point, are there any tweaks you'd like?

What do you mean by $15 a month package.... A plugin/ hosting service?

webdesign is one of the crappiest thing I am glad I can outsource to some really skilled guy.
I get a small commission, but it saves me a ton of headaches..

and btw: it's one of the hardest niches out there, cause everyone can do it.

and 5 calls a day?? you wont get 5 clients a month..
do more like 20.

Yeah thanks, this is true. I've worked up to 30 a day since it takes a few minutes to just churn out one freaking meeting.

Did something similar, worked really well. Posted about it, if you are interested in checking it out heres a link: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/new-secret-method-revealed-best-method-shared-in-bhw-in-a-long-time-newb-friendly.841544/

Good luck on your journey.

Thank you. Watching it right now. :)

Yes with my post I would suggest a "sorrowless" package (e.g. T-Shirt sizes S/M/L/XL) with monthly rates. We all know that a website has to be always actual and active. So sell a nice package that contains a bit of social media (facebook 5 posts with shitstorm alarm, google location warning, Instagram profile, webpage with mail info@...) for X$ per month.
This will help you to build up a portfolio and some regular income. The contract will need a clause that the customer needs at least 6 month or whatever to get passwords etc. for the accounts to be sure your initial work will be paid.

what conversions are you getting?

calls > meetings > paying clients?

87 calls > 1 meeting > 0 paying clients

I've upped my daily calling to 40. It is getting comfortable to just pick up the damn phone.

I met with the guy yesterday. He is a cheapo, he wanted the site for $100 with free hosting and maintainence for a year. So I looked up how to qualify leads to prevent wasting my time in the future.

Ah ok... this seems like a smart way to shift towards. I just want to give my current strategy a little longer to learn from this experience. Thank you.

UPDATE: This week I've sat down and reflected on my failures.

I must work on:
1. More volume of contacting prospects. Now, I can make a site in a few minutes with some python magic.
2. More followup of prospects(based on @Skyebug77 's guide he shared with me)
3. I must followup with contacted people and offer them small services like @Marcel Freiberg has mentioned in order to make the first transaction.
4. I'm reading a book from a guy named Claude Whitacre called Selling Essentials. I am seeing a lot of other assumptions that I have been making me that are holding me back.

kind of sad you are spending 80% of your time doing stuff you are NOT good at which lead to just working 20% o fyour energy on time on stuff you like or are good at...

if you cant somehow automate "clientgetting" you are fucked

have you thought about putting the pricetag somehere to scare away the tyre kickers?
eg, if so asks me about SEO, I quote them 999/month for 6 months contract.
helps to scare them away to cheap idiots selling them them crap links.
they come back. sooner than later.
however, I am sure I stated it like 2000x times I dislike doing SEO stuff for regular customers.
for (sem)professionals, I kind of like it.

I also suck at follow up.

however, As I have vast background of "offline dating". I know it is usally a waste of time running after girls that dont want to get banged on second night.
as it is a waste of time running after customers, that dont want to buy, rent or use the service.

I had a IRL kinda idea, Cool you're going through with it. Keep at it i wanna know long term result to see if my idea is worth the efforts.

Thanks for the input. I am mainly focused on just doing a lot of stuff and seeing what "principles" are in fact principles. I am brand new to business. In the next week or so, I will make a judgement on what I am good or bad at. Skybug's video gave me some ideas I have to try out as well.

Thanks I will keep posting. But, why don't you just try it out?

87 calls and 1 meeting !

That's less than 2% conversion for a simple meeting !!

did you read this comment ? :
