Expired domains work?

But these updates happened only quite recently, so age resetting should start only since the update time. I mean if you have your pbns for 2+ years, of course they will not be affected and still work.

Buddy, whatever. Do what you want, I couldn't care less. Go rank with blog comments and profile links.

Dude, I'm not saying you are bullshitting, but just looking for objective discussion. If you have done some tests recently, just let us know.

Hello OP,

Yes, the expired domains still work well and help to do anything like website redirect, using as PBN, or making money by using it as money site. But the quality must be in good condition for whatever you do.

By working with PBNs for X years and building hundreds of them. Sure. Listen to Google. They want you to succeed in your SEO ventures from bottom of their hearts. They do not need their Adwords money.

And they can't reset anything due to collateral damage it would cause.

Google never said they reset anything ! It's guru's made up BS**** :D

Isn't it funny How people ask a question, and when you answer, they debate with you based on their awesome logic and none years of experience!!

Please read and update
With all respect I really don't know what you want me to update this thread on. The consensus is that expired domains still work. All evidence shows that expired domains still work, just because one small group of gurus claim they don't does not make it so.

greg the "scam artist" OMG machine Morrison.

wow, those are really reference dude.

but well, he was one of the first courses I bought. tryin to bullshit the clients in to "on page is enough", when In fact he ranked his sites with expired domains "back in the days"..

I just wanted ur all opinies..... So now best way to rank?

I too believe as long as backlink profile remains there....expired domain is still a powerful thing

Sure they work, it just ain't easy to find good ones.

So what determines an age of a domain? What if the expired domain isn't indexed anymore does it then reset?

Age of the domain is not relevant. Relevant thing here is the age of the content and how long has it been in index.

Ok even if it's no longer indexed?

No, then the age of the content resets.

Ok so apart from good backlinks the other important criteria are making sure it's still indexed then. But then is that only if you re-use that actual content?

It's not important lol. Find me one domain that's either free for registration or one on the auctions, that's still indexed. Unless you buy a live site, this won't happen, that's why it's absolutely pointless to bother about it, because it has almost no impact on anything. Only occasion when this matters, is if you want to rebuild it as a money site. If you want to rebuild it as a PBN, that's your call, I am not fan of that. You will kill the contextual niche relevancy of the domain. Unless it's of course super related. But then again... fully indexed domain + super niche relevant + clean + decent metrics... well, see you in 2024 lol.

If you have an expired domain that has been parked for a while and non indexed but still has a good backlink portfolio there can be some issues breathing life into it. Like everything SEO the answers must be contextual. Example 1 - expired domain is for the auto industry you want to rank for the cookie industry that person that grabs that expired domain that has been parked for a bit goes about making it into a food site or linking to food sites ... Example 2 - a domain has been parked and some of the better backlinks have actually been removed but google still shows them in the profile. Example 3 The domain has great sites linking to it that update their links and see the changes you make and delink to you 90 days down the road.

Google is probably starting to look at a few of these issues and eventually will devalue those sites to think other wise is a foolish game. I agree not much is happening now. The "guru" may be seeing these other issues affecting his performance so he sites some off comment by Google about looking at these issues that have not actually happened yet ... however

It is good if Google has talked about a subject to at least begin to plan how to offset it ... Example everyone laughed at SSL having any ranking factor and for a few years it has been talked about but really did not matter and now this year we have the browsers warning people and I have seen a bit of a bump for us vs a few competitors that do not have https (of course like everything this could be something else but it did happen around march on a pretty set site we have not done much with for backlinks or content changes).

We are seeing the same thing with mobile people have laughed at speed and mobile being a factor BUT we are now seeing sites like Yelp rank their mobile "m.yelp ...." sites separately and ranking is now starting to appear different on phones vs deskstop so things are changing there but not doomsday just subtle changes happening over time.

Some things happen faster than others with Google and some changes are faster and some they collect more data on before they try to "break the internet" (ohhh that horrible Penguin). I personally feel like they have learned their lesson with other severe updates and are making more subtle changes, doing testing, gaining more data and then try to penalize those it knows are cheating vs innocents caught in the cross fire.
