Help for a newbie?

Hi there,

I'm pretty new to this forum so I hope this isn't among the many annoying newbie post to you. I am really trying to grow my Instagram (and many other platforms to be honest) as it's holding me back with working with brands. I blog and have been dedicated to it for 3 years but just clearly haven't put in enough effort SEO-wise. I'll also be wanting to increase blog rankings & youtube etc amongst this all.

A girl I know was following/unfollowing on her insta a few years ago up to about 5000 followers and now she's self employed from blogging etc.

What do you reckon my next steps are? I've used a bot in the past and had my account permanently removed first time so now I'm a little cautious. I also don't want anything to seem too out of the ordinary.

Following and unfollowing is the best method to grow fast. Unfortunately most bots have been banned nowadays but theres still some out there, just have to play around with the settings so you dont get flagged as a bot.

Your friend did what I am in the process of doing: growing a following and getting paid to advertise other peoples products.

I'm not doing any bot follow/unfollow until Instagram hate waves calm down a bit...

I have been publishing a couple of pictures a day and using hashtags and I'm not growing much but my account is safe.

In a couple of months when things would go back to normal... I'll come back to that.

In the mean time I'm planning to collaborate with other accounts similar to mine to help everyone grow. Together we can achieve more!

Your account will either ask for email/phone verification or you will simply be banned or locked out...you will know

Curious what you mean by "paid SEO services"....I am not aware of how this is an effective method of growing social media... personally I think SEO is too competitive and wouldn't be very effective at growing social media

The key is not to target accounts that are broad...any account with over 500k is too broad in my opinion...most accounts that have 500k+ will attract bots and untargeted followers who only followed the account because they saw 1 of their posts on the trending page or because their friend follows it.

Find passionate pages that are very similar to what you do with 10k-250k and target their followers and post likers...this will increase your follow back and engagement ratio significantly. My niches range from animals to quotes to spirituality....I have over 150 IG accounts

Hi, thank you for the advice. I wasn't following their followers, I was following the account itself and have been getting followers. I assume this is probably a rubbish trick so maybe I'll try following the followers of similar accounts. Would this be enough to grow or are there any other big tricks I'm missing?

Yes you should definitely follow their followers and likers...following the accounts themselves will only get you other spam bot followers and thats not what you want...you want engaged followers

Just started doing that! I'm only at 1.2k. I'd really like to get to 5k engaged followers to start working some more brands!

No offense but most brands will want you to have over 10k with 300+ likes...You can certainly build your own brands with those followers though

Oh much bigger brands yes, but I've been speaking with a lot of potential brands to collaborate with and they'll work with me at 5k. But definitely the hope is to get 10k+ I just don't know how I can get there. I can't see manually following/unfollowing being sustainable enough to grow from 1k to 10k

No offense but im at 2000 followers with 700+ likes at EVERY photo. Only thing is in peraonal instagram.

I have a 3400 account in 8 months. It's being very complicated for me to reach 5k as well. But IG makes it very difficult now. I'm afraid to do f / u and I do not know if it's good to participate in engagement groups ... my circumstance is similar to yours there are brands that want to work with me but when I have 5k. I have an average of 550 likes and 50 comments. But in the last days have fallen to 300-400 likes ...

Manually unfollow and follow is possible, it just takes A LOT of time. Still I do it with my personal account to stay safe.
