LET'S DEBATE: Shadow Bans + Bots In General

Guys,

I run a few IG accounts for others plus a couple for my own brand. I use various methods for all of them such as FL, power likes, engagement groups, shoutouts, whitehat, blackhat etc etc. A real mixture of all.

My conclusion after testing various things are this:

- Instagram has clamped down on bots massively. They KNOW
- They are monitoring complex patterns of activity
- Was Instagress was closed down OR was it that Instagram approached Instagress and told them their service would be useless - because of new measures to monitor?
- Instagress closed around 20th April
- Since 20th April I noticed massive drops in engagement IG PLUS massive drops in traffic to website via Instagram
- Shadow banned or whatever you want to call it - two of my accounts which were botting do not appear in Top Posts on any hashtags - ive tested this various ways including doing same post from new account and getting top post straight away. Also did this on small hashtags 1k and large 1m

I know many people run bots on here - so perhaps there will be a backlash.

All I am doing is sharing my findings. Open debate, share experiences...

I think that instagress had to cahoot with instagram by providing with a list of all usernames under their wing, I would drop instagram altogether tbh, I feel like there is a massive wave of bans incoming, which will leave many botters devastated both financially and psychologically lol

I think Instagram told Instagress - look - we are changing things, your bots (and others wont work soon, infact they will start to shadow ban accounts).

Please - i urge anyone to back me up here - upload a photo, put a low targeted hashtag, something around 1000 images - something you know you will def get top post.

then look at the hashtag via a different account (must be unfollowing) and see if your post is still in top posts.

bet a lot of bot makers here know this but cant admit.

Since 20th april - the bots have died - engagement gone down.

I ADVISE NOT TO USE BOTS.

Does it help doing F/U manually? Ive never used a bot but did everything manually and i got shadowbanned...i dont know how to show ig that im not using a bot

I've found a lot of what you said as well. I've bottled on and off (usually a day here and a day there, it's very frowned upon in my industry so I didn't do it a lot) and I've also done things manually. I'm finding even manually now it's the same. I used to be able to spend a few minutes liking a few photos and easily gain a few followers and several likes. Now I'll get one like and maybe a follow, even though I've only liked 10 photos in like 10 minutes, not really pushing limits.

I'm hoping they sort their shit out and we can all start figuring out some new routines. It sucks as I'm doing the influencer thing, and it's about to go into my busy season. I currently need to sort out my agreements with brands and my engagement has just been shot to shit

I don't understand how exactly your opinion defers from mine- being shadow banned puts your account under scrutiny basically rendering it useless.
To avoid being sued, I believe that instagress HAD to hand over all the intel they had in their repository in order not to be sucked dry, do you understand what I'm going at ?

Instagram is not done nor dead nor close to dead.

In fact now that all the ones that give up easily are gone it's going to get even better for those of us that have been working with IG for years.

Bots can always get around the algorithms to block them. It's just a matter of gaming the algorithm. If you're a bot coder and you're not willing to put in the work to do that, you've given up before you even started.

This goes beyond bots. This is the culture that has risen from the IG Community - everyone-can-be-a-celebrity-culture. Maybe more so than any other social network, IG has given rise to being "InstaFamous." The popular way to that path is the follow/unfollow of strangers which is 100% acceptable in IG, but frowned upon in FB, Linkedin, etc...

This celebrity culture has given rise to millions of people collecting followers. Theres hundreds of apps in the App Store to mass follow. As long as its acceptable in this culture to add strangers, we're going to see people manually or with the help of a bot, systematically mass following large amounts of people.

whatever goes, bots will never die , yes there is some reason but
javascript is rising, it will be a pain in ass for botters.

Lol I think a lot of people try to pump in as much action as they can and get their accounts flagged even manually its possible. I doubt its the bots fault or even instagrams security as much as its user error.
