Hi everyone,
I have a question for those of you who work deeply with YouTube metrics and growth patterns. Do you know of any reliable methods or triggers that help videos appear in the YouTube Music Trending section (now part of the YouTube Charts - https://charts.youtube.com/charts/TrendingVideos/)?
From what I understand, the selection there is fully algorithmic. I personally use Google Ads campaigns, which — according to Google — shouldn’t affect Trending placements. However, based on long-term observation, I believe they do have some impact, although not a very strong one.
Recently I’ve noticed some entries appearing in the Music Trending list that, judging strictly by their numbers, really shouldn’t be there. This makes me wonder whether someone has discovered a specific pattern or method that consistently helps videos get picked up by the Trending algorithm.
My current assumption is that a sudden spike in views from the target country plays a major role. But even with that, it seems there might be a way to bypass the need for purely organic momentum.
Most services that provide artificial views rely heavily on low-tier geographies, which — as we all know — have little to no impact on pushing a video into the charts of other countries. So that direction doesn't really solve the issue.
Do any of you have insights, case studies, or theories on what actually moves the needle for YouTube Music Trending placement, aside from the obvious “make better content” advice?
Small disclaimer: I’ve been doing this for years, and I’m not the artist — I’m only analyzing the technical side. So I’m not looking for creative suggestions
.
Thanks in advance for any ideas or observations.
