Youtube "Poking" Method?

Hi Guys,
I read somewhere (can't remember where) that one technique to determine if a video will rank is to use the "poking" method. Is that just uploading vids with desired kw phrases to see if/where they rank and then taking them down?

i was doing this method. well, need a few month to know how this method works.

the result? 500 views per day. but, because my niche is slides how, then this is useless.

I did it once by accident . I uploaded the video and forgot about and after 3 months find out it's ranking

I really don't understand the method you mention. If the video rank by itself, why would you remove it after?

yep, if it ranks, why would you remove it?

The only thing that comes to my mind is making some stupid video to see if keyword is good and then investing time and money to make quality one?
