I am starting my local SEO business soon, I just wanted to know the EXACT process a SEO or a Local SEO uses after getting a client.

I know On-Page, Off-Page, Technical stuff, backlinking and all but I wanted to know the exact step by step process you go for and what tools you uses.

Many people suggested me the process to be like -

1)Website audit
2)Backlink Profile audit
3)Keyword research
4)Competitors research
5)On page SEO
6)Backlinking
7)and Results.

If you could even tell what tool you uses it would be awesome.

Thanks in advance.

What i can suggest you is just go with it and not overcomplicated things. Newbiew tend to analyze all the stuff before actually jumping ship which is not the way of successful marketers.

Learn as you move on and it will come and not analyze everything and then when ou see the whole picture most tend to quit cause there's alot to be done.

What you need to plan is your monthly budget and monthly targets and that's it.

My thing is just project confidence when talking to a client. I know it's like the cliche a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. But what I did was do a bunch of research, learn as much as you can and if you don't know..look it up. Pretty much everything that you plan on doing, are doing, has already been done and more than likely been documented before. Practice on your own sites if you have the budget to see what works/doesn't work. My first client was my former employer and I told him over a year ago what was wrong with his website, and just as a demonstration made a website that looked similar to his (which eventually took most of his traffic) and showed him proof in terms of keywords ranking on google etc. Then fast forward to June of this year, he asks me if I still do "the website thing", told him yeah I still do.

I drafted up a plan and contract told him EXACTLY what I did for my site, what I COULD do for his site and he blew me off for another company that actually did it as a business. After they did their on-site seo, he hired me as a consultant on a monthly flat rate fee to just maintain the site and admitted that only now did the things I told him over a year ago made sense. I told him I could have saved him so much time and effort but eh, w/e..it was his call. So my second client I'm just doing it for my friend's family's business just because I have nothing else to do with my time. Whatever I learned in the year, whatever I learned from my first client's site, I apply it to my new client and to my own sites.

So tl;dr just do research, due diligence, practice practice until you get it right.

thanks for the valuable information guys... and I apologize for late reply... that really helped me... thanks a lot.

What about CTR of the search result? do you pay attention to it?

Start by getting your first clients. Processes are great, but there's no point in focusing on them when you're just starting out.

Don't worry too much about the tools either - it's not like clients care which one of the 100s of available rank trackers you use.
